USA get 2013 Aus get 2012?

Hey guys question may have already been asked so please MOD delete if it has, I tried searching with no luck.

Why is that all Scion FRS models sold this year are 2013 models? yet the Aus Spec 86 are badged 2012, According to insurance quotes?

This is kinda resting uneasy with me with regards to resale?

Thanks in advance

That's US way to identify their cars and is different to the rest of the world.

It won't effect our resale as you won't be selling your car at US.

USA have been doing this with every model for a long time now, not just the 86. It started back in the 50s, or even bofore that, when they did have a new model for every year. However they have been shifting the boundries of their "year model" slightly over time. Now it is ridiculous.

In the US when cars are brought out late in the year they are given the next year's date. Usually new cars are introduced in September. Go figure.
