If I had to guess, I would say it is way too wide.

I don't know, but motofan if you do attempt this, let me know. I might consider doing the same and would like to know if it was an issue.

Nitro,
Thanks for the right up w pictures. I plan on adding a similar Pioneer unit in the next week or so. What about the mic for Bluetooth. Where you able to use the stock mic in the headboard? Thanks again. |

I forgot to add this to the DIY, but I ran the included Pioneer mic to my sun visor. I noticed that the stock mic had 4 wires coming out of it and I didn't feel like trying to figure out what the extra 2 wires were.

I just did this install and routed the aftermarket mic to where the stock mic is located. Running wires took about 5min.
Pop off the stock mic piece from roof and run your aftermarket mic wire from deck under driver side dash up the a-pillar then under the roof liner. (where the roof meets the windshield) and into the stock mic area. Done!

Sounds like the OEM mic has a built-in amplifier circuit, like recent Subarus have. See this post.
Different aftermarket HU brands require different techniques to bypass the parking brake requirement. Most Kenwoods and JVCs just need their parking brake lead tied to chassis ground. With many others, you can use a simple 12 volt relay, or an equivalent (and much smaller) solid-state device. There are also tiny alternatives to that PAC TR7 module. Google your HU model plus 'parking brake bypass' to see what yours needs. If other people might be driving your car (friends, family, valets, mechanics), consider adding a hidden bypass disable switch so they can't blame your HU as the reason they drove into a telephone pole.

I finally gave up the idea of installing the scion radio to the Civic. Instead I placed a Kenwood DDIN in the Civic. I would say the front panel of the Scion radio is too wide. You can't put it in the Civic without cutting off a large chunk of Civic's radio bazel.

I just installed a Kenwood DDX719 and I will say the dash kit is butt a55 ugly. Gonna have to do something to make it blend better. Bondo may be the answer.
