I'm sure it also handles like a go-kart.

It's the gauge from the new 2017. Nothing is confirmed yet. The torque dip is widely exaggerated. If you drive the car the way it's meant to be driven, you will barely notice it.

More like 4.6k, but yeah pretty much. Frequent downshifting and rev matching is essential in this car.

In my case no, but my 86 is a commuter car primarily. I'm usually cruising below the dip, and if I am winding it out, I'm bouncing off the rev limiter. Pretty much no middle ground with me.

Does anyone make an engine swap kit for putting this into the new brz?

No just for the FRS. It won't fit the BRZ because of the AWD.

And if it doesn't beat it (sometimes even if it does) then it will be the famous "well it is OK but it isn't a Mustang/Camaro/Miata/insert name of magazines best paying supporter here" comments.

Just received this from my Toyota dealer here in Australia. He said he had only received it 5 minutes ago from Toyota.

We have two models here - the GT86 and the more advanced, GTS86.

This is what it mentions as new specs for the GT86 model ...
  • Hill start assist
  • LED headlamps
  • FA20H engine (for the manual models)
  • LED headlamps
  • Temporary spare tyre (previously we had a choice between a full-sized spare or a repair kit)
  • Headlamp cleaner
  • Headlamps levelling - auto
  • LED daytime running lamps
  • Carbon look ornamentation

In addition to the above, new specifications for the GTS model ...
  • Instrument panel - grand lux finish
  • A 4.2inch full colour TFT MID
  • 'Privacy' glass - I am assuming they mean darkened windows from the rear seat backwards. Have told my wife we can now be amorous in the back seat with complete confidence.
  • Steering wheel switches

FA20H. H stands for Header? Higher-Spec? Something in Japanese that means evolution or something?
