Intially back in late 2013 this procedure to just download the update worked. Afterwards they are making you buy updated maps in order to get the update.

Yea I don't listen to XM and I figure when I realized there's a traffic jam up ahead, it's usually too late lol!

Here in Toronto they started giving traffic flow updates up ahead and ETA on highway pixel boards, like about 25 years too late compare to Japan.

Better slow than not at all, my radio died about a month ago, now it's only useful for blowing fuses.

Yep it appears it is a real pain to try and update the 2013 models. Both Subaru dealers in our area were no help. Shame they don't tell you this up front.

I remember the update came out during winter of 2013 when I patched mine using this software (when it wasn't grey out), so if you bought your car since then it is most probably updated already to a certain point.

I went to the site in the link and it appears that software that you can download is for handheld GPS navigation units. And it states that you need to plug your device into the PC using the supplied USB cable. My car didn't come with a USB cable . Does the sw give you the option to put the update on the sdcard?

You have to use the Subaru Toolbox but don't do it. It just crashed my card and they said there is something wrong with the software. You have to just get a new SD card.
