AC sucks at low RPM
anyone else have issues with their AC on hot days at low RPM's. it seems like if it is 80+out and i dont start the car and let it run for 30 minutes or more with the ac on or have the car at 3000+ RPM's the ac blows warm. i took it to the dealer once but by the time i get there the compressor was finally working. i'm just wondering if i'm the only one.

Mine seems to work OK.
AS YOU KNOW, it takes a while for the AC to cool it's duct work down and blow COLD air, especially at low engine speeds. You might wish to find another car (at a meet or at the dealership) and fire it up to compare. OR, you could have it tested at an AC shop to see if the gas level is up to par. humfrz |

AC requires airflow to work better.
If your AC condenser fan is working properly, you simply just have to drive faster. -alex |

2) The compressor is driven by the engine. Low engine speed means low refrigerant flow. 3) No speed/low speed means limited airflow over the condensor. Low airflow means low heat transfer. All sounds normal to me. Your dealer or any competetant auto A/C service can quickly check refrigerant charge and compressor performance. |

Nothing has changed ....... get over it ......
you always had to be going faster for it to be cooler in a car ...... of course, back then, you had to roll the windows down and turn the wing all the way in .......![]() Yes, the back windows would roll all the way down ...... that's how we thinned the gene pool of the kids that didn't know any better than to climb out of a moving car. Wings. Yes, that part of the front windows that opened up and directed fresh air to the occupants. Some of the 40's cars had center vents (behind the hood) that with a lever on the inside, that you could open up and blow lots of fresh air in from under the dash. Yep, with a little headwind you could blow a girls dress up ..... catch a glimpse ...... I have to go now ...... mrs humfrz says I've played on the computer long enough today ...... ![]() humfrz humfrz |

Worst case this time of year a lot of shops have free/cheap A/C diag prices to get you in the door, you could have them check it real quick to make sure the pressures are correct.

I've always felt the A/C in this car sucks. It's certainly far worse than any of my prior cars. I talk my self into believing it's a weight savings measure, just like everything else on the car necessary to build it to a price point.

I feel completely opposite. I live in Florida and I'll leave work on speed 3 and by the time I've driven 5 miles or so, I have to turn it down to 1 because it gets too cold. I would say take the car to the dealer if you're still under warranty. They'll at least measure the output temperature which should ideally be 30 degrees F below ambient temperature.
