Probably a heat shield vibrating..
mine has done it on a few of them.

Get under car, swing a hammer around a few times until you break things.
noise gone.

For my car, this was the shifter lockout. Remove it and put some teflon tape on the bolt. Put it back together, no more rattle.

Bought my FRS with 17k miles on it back in December. I noticed this metallic-type buzzing right away where the torque dip starts to end (4-4.5 rpm). My car was recently tuned about a month ago by a friend, and the buzzing is still there.

When I was in for service last week (oil change), I explain it to them and had them take a look. They want me to bring my car in tomorrow so they can remove the TRD exhaust and install a stock one, to see if that makes it go away (not my idea obviously, thats what the manager/tech/whoever recommended they do)

I'll update here tomorrow when they tell me what's going on.

Also, should I worried about them spotting the tune somehow? I'm fairly new cars, mechanically.
any update on your exhaust?

Stock knob? The little ring around the bottom of mine would rattle. Drove me insane, so I got a giant hunk of steel shift knob.

I have the sti knob where the entire piece is metal with leather wrapped on the side. I can make the noise go away if i pinch the shifter linkage under the shift boot.

Didn't some people talk about their reverse lockout rattling? That might be with aftermarket shifters, I don't recall. But it could be a thing.

Mine does it at 4500 rpm, but it sounds more like lifter rattle to me than a vibration. Still pretty new so I'll keep trying to figure it out.

17 BRZ Buzz in cab drivers side

I'm getting a buzz with my 17 Yellow Series. Naturally the tech couldn't reproduce it, but I'm looking at a few possibilities.

Symptoms: aprox 2 second buzz in cab in the area of the speaker/window controls/under dash. Only happens while driving, not RPM related, at anywhere from 15 to 80mph.

Possible causes:
-Cabling under dash
-Cabling around speaker
-Door step trim
-Window/lock controller
-Air bezzle
-Left dash access pannel

If anyone fixed this, give me a heads up. If I find it or fix it I'll post

@zmz0305 - My mechanic, Shiv from OpenFlash, and Delicious all assured me that metallic buzz in the 4-4.5k range is normal. I could hear it slightly on the stock tune on my '13 FR-S, and it was louder with an OFT or EcuTek tune. I can hear it on my '17 BRZ, too.
