Mine's not really high pitched... I'll try to get it to happen today. I can do it free-revving in the driveway, though my neighbors think I'm trying to provoke someone whenever I do it.

I want to find the rattle though. It's annoying as all hell. I will look at my sound tube today and see if there's anything to be done there.

Mine rattles against the windshield. I swear it sounds like it's something loose inside the dash, but holding the mirror instantly makes it go away. I've stuffed a piece of folded paper between the top of the base and the windshield and that helps.
I haven't checked that yet but I will have to. I adjusted my mirror the other day to clean the windshield around it and could feel it pivot against the windshield. That might just be it.

I have wanted the jdm frameless, think that would change it? Lol.

I've had all sorts of rattles in my car... Metallic sounding? Not really any that come to mind except for the button on my passenger side seat belt holder will "buzz" if it gets in the right position. I don't use the seat belt holders so it took me a while to figure out that it was the button buzzing. Just moving the strap some fixed the issue.

Just for the record... Other rattles I've heard are under the drivers side dash there is a slight rattle caused by cabling around a box (I would assume this is the headlight level controller in the BRZ?) Also have a rattle in the center vent area (has been pointed out in other threads along with what I beileve is a fix action posted) and finally there is cable with protector in the trunk that is not very securely fitted. It can make a really loud rattle if not secured properly.

Ironically when taking my car to the dealer for these issues they could not reproduce them; however, they always seemed to happen when I PULLED OFF THE LOT. So, I took the time to discover them and apply some sort of corrective action.

Anyway, hope this information helps pinpoint some known rattles that I have found.

Does it happen when you clutch in a little bit or prepare to shift up then slowly releases it would make that buzz sound right?

Cause thats happening to me if i leave my foot on the clutch and sightly on the gas it will make that noise once i shift up. Brought it to my dealer and they have no idea whats causing this hopefully someone has the answers to this =[

I found it!

It's, regrettably, in the shifter. I had it happen the other day going down the highway, so I just held that speed and started groping my car until it stopped. If you grab the plastic collar underneath the shifter boot (where the spring is housed for the reverse lockout collar) and squeeze hard, it will stop.

What is rattling in there? I don't know. Can it be fixed? I don't know! My plan is to take it apart and take a look, but I am not really sure what to look for I guess. Some folks have said that it is a tolerance issue between the collar and the lever itself. If that's the case, a little bit of teflon sheet should solve that. If it's the spring inside that canister I think it could be a much more difficult remedy though, and I have not seen any good diagrams of that.

PS, if anyone has a cross-section of that... please cough it up

It's cold outside So not yet. I haven't had much occasion, since I'm back on my winter tires and staying under 4000 rpm most of the time.

I will do it though! I promise! If anyone wants to buy me a week's vacation in SoCal I'll totally get right to work!! hah.

Ta!
I've only had mine 2 days and noticed where it was coming from first drive, seems to have settle and I cant imagine a fix will be difficult. If it starts to bother me more I'll pull it apart, play and take some pics... though 2 baby boys and another on the way tends to limit my free time!

I know the feeling about limited free time! I'm changing jobs right now so I'm trying to quarterback the moving effort, as well as changing cell plans, home shopping, planning my wedding and honeymoon, and trying to do the usual day-job junk!

THANKFULLY no little ones here yet - I'm too busy as is! But I will definitely do my best to figure this thing out

Does anyone know of a good place to buy feeler gauges on the cheap?

Has the source of this sound been found? My car makes the same noise right after shifting gears and getting back on the gas.... it's extremely annoying.

Sorry to bump an old post, but I've got some important info on this.

Bought my FRS with 17k miles on it back in December. I noticed this metallic-type buzzing right away where the torque dip starts to end (4-4.5 rpm). My car was recently tuned about a month ago by a friend, and the buzzing is still there.

When I was in for service last week (oil change), I explain it to them and had them take a look. They want me to bring my car in tomorrow so they can remove the TRD exhaust and install a stock one, to see if that makes it go away (not my idea obviously, thats what the manager/tech/whoever recommended they do)

I'll update here tomorrow when they tell me what's going on.

Also, should I worried about them spotting the tune somehow? I'm fairly new cars, mechanically.
