Exactly. At this point its a BRZ for that time frame next yr. Now, if the STI (BRZ) is announced before then, then I might just go with that one. Either way I plan on owning a BRZ by Mar-June 2013.

My dilemma is with the ordering process. For example if I want the standard car in Mar-June I would have to possibly order the car 6-8 months out (depending on allocations). This would have the car being ordered before the theoretical STI announcement. I heard as well that the next allocations could be in January for delivery.

I rode in a WRB recently and liked it, but am still waiting on a test drive though. The STi has peaked my interest greatly though and is stuck in the back of my head.
We're in the same boat brother. I still need to test drive one and I really want the tuner market to be more fleshed out here in the states. Ordering JDM parts gets expensive.

I figure by this time next year the STI will be announced and maybe even out. Then I'll be able to better make a decision. Bang for buck we'll see how the STI version stacks up against the Limited.

I dont mind waiting cause the value on my truck isnt going to go down as much as what i owe on it, thus giving me more for my trade in. Also, as others have stated the aftermarket will hopefully be in full force "hopefully" by next year this time. So in love with this car dont know why but it is driving me nuts! Def going with the White though. Looks so sexy!

I would buy a Limited now, and if/when the STI gets released and you decide you want to set up to it, you'll know what you'll be getting, and have the Limited to trade in for it. Or if you decide in a few years that the BRZ isn't for you, you can trade it for something else instead of waiting.
I agree completely. Very well said!

Who knows? They may not even make a good looking sti outta this. We will only know when they release it. Have your fun with the brz now and trade/sell it when the sti comes out. Its well worth it in my eyes. Then again, this is coming from someone who is going to be 17 in a month and a half and still don't have my permit yet. But that's my two cents.

I'd be surprised if they don't make a higher powered version, but I don't really have any interest in one. I also wouldn't be surprised if they do a stripped out version.

However, who knows when it would be? Or how much it will cost? Or how bad it will hurt fuel efficiency? They'll probably also put a huge wing and goofy extraneous styling all over it - I love the clean, simple lines on the current BRZ.

I'm guessing a BRZ STi would easily be in the $35K neighborhood. WRX starts at $25,595 and the WRX STi is $34,095.

Have you owned a really fast car before? I have a '99 miata as my toy right now (impreza is my DD), and it's a ton of fun to drive, although it is too underpowered, imo, to be a daily driver. BRZ is faster than my impreza and my miata, so, although I haven't test driven one yet, I'm guessing there will be enough power to keep me happy.

Based on what I've heard, my guess is that they will have an STI version available late next summer/early fall. Should be 2.5L NA making 250hp. It will have some body accents and suspension tweaks. I'm sure it will be a nice improvement.. The question is.. will it be worth it?

I could see the STI version being $6k to $8k more.. Can you make 50hp and better handling with that kind of money on your own?

Can you do all of that and keep the factory warranty intact is the real question.

I'm in the same boat as you, rightnow my local dealer is sold out and there is a waiting list for the regular BRZ. So I'm having to wait anyways so might as well wait for the STI version. Rightnow its very new and by the time the STI comes out which will probably be this time next year as an early 2014, the aftermarket parts will be more fleshed out with more tuners on board.
250HP from a N/A 2.0L... Brings me back to the S2K days!

I may just go with a Z-car instead of the BRZ after-all with this information.

not having a rear seat and a laughable trunk can get old fast, also it doesnt get the MPG that the BRZ does. I loved mine but as a daily driver it was painful. Simply getting groceries sucked

I have a 5 min walk to the nearby Giant, groceries aren't an issue and my bicycle I usually take with me on vacations can break down into 3 pieces.
