That sounds right they were Pirelli's as at the time (I retired in 2004) they paid the best contingency. Medium rear/Soft front usually.

To be honest at all levels below factory pro it's about the rider not the bike, I used to win unlimited mod GP races on a 600 Supersport prepped bike. Kind of like what I'm expecting the BRZ to do at local track days to heavier more powerful cars :-)
BRZ its all about corner speed. Which you know can win events!

Hey the MV put some mad power down as well. 200hp, Then the DD16 235+hp

Nice bike man!! My dad has a custom hayabusa. Its yellow and has a sway bar ( I think it is called that, or it is sway arm. I'm not into bikes. ) so the tire sticks outta the back and he has a fat back tire. When we we go the tire, it was the fattest in nevada. I used to live in vegas but now I am in ct. It is 300 mm. Well idk if it is my dad told me it was but idk if he was kidding or not. Has no speed limiter in it and has a turbo. It goes like 230.

You're probably gonna laugh but those are Q2's, 120/70 & 190/55. This was my 2nd time running these and I'm ready to throw these in the bin. The 1st running them was during a rain/wet track day in which they seemed to have cold tear and chunks missing. I decided to run 28F/27R since it was a bit colder.

A month later, during a normal track day, 85 degrees, running 30F/29R psi my rear tire starts blistering and even more chunks of rubber started to come off. The build date says 04-11 so they can't be that old. I'm ready to go back Bridgestones and done with DunFlops.

I'll take a pic later since it was ride to work day today. Last time I checked, I believe my rear was 35mm.

I was trying to see if other riders running Q2's had seen something similar. This is exactly what happened to my tire.

Overheating is something that you would visibly be able to see in a tire. the rubber gets so hot that it actually "Boils" and chucks of rubber will come off. This is seen ONLY at tracks known to have very high temperatures, like Daytona. If you overheated your tire (reguardless if it was a race tire or street tire), you would see chucks of rubber missing and the tire would be unusable.

Having said that; what you encountered was most likely YOU overriding the limits of that tire, not overheating. As a general rule, street tires are made NOT to overheat. A street tire will drop off in grip as it get to hot. Being hot and having less grip you cannot keep the same lap times, thus you will be going slower and producing less heat. So you will likely not ever overheat the tire on the sides (unless at tracks like Daytona). Its self correcting. But you can overheat a street tire in the center, by maintaining high speeds in a straight line. This would take many miles at +180MPH.

It sounds to me that you made a mistake in that corner, or its time to step up race tires.

We have two bikes shoved in the garage with the BRZ (well after the Cressida Wagon V8 swap is done and I kick it out)! My wife has an 09 Kawi ER6n, and I have an 07 Yamaha FZ1. We wanted bikes that could "do it all". Touring, commuting, novice track days, backroad fun.

I am waiting to see when Yamaha comes up with for a 3rd gen FZ1 (hope they use the R1 crossplane, just for that awesome sound). Otherwise I may be temped by a Multistrada one day. I don't anticipate upgrading my bike for a while.

And apparently carry firewood! I really love the ER6n, saw a bunch of them in Europe a couple of weeks ago.
