But, do note that his IS is not only an auto, but is also slammed on huge wheels. Last time I was in a guy's E46 M3 that was set up like that, I was sure my WRX (on 205-series tires, nonetheless) would out-handle him. Quote:
(a) will be expected to last at least 200,000 miles, and (b) will be made of stamped steel, with a little bit of aluminum whereas the loti are expensive enough to use composite and bonded aluminum honeycomb. (c) will have all of the Toyota safety electronics packed into it to satisfy the sheep ALSO... Serchmarc, why are you asking? Some sort of project / study or just really heavy curiosity? but... NO, unless it's a very good driving car I'll probably buy an S2000, rip out the softtop, and cage/hardtop it. This will be a second car for me, a track whore that is also street legal. |

![]() somewhere between 2600 to 2800 lbs. would be ideal. As for buying it no matter..nah. I could buy a nice Elise for less. So the ball is in Yotas court. I have a '00 GTS sitting in the garage that still gives me plenty of driving pleasure. pj |

. 2600 to 2800 would be a passing grade at best. (New Miata's worst case weight scenario is 2626 lbs with the power hardtop and an automatic transmission.) Toyota should've hit GT5's 2200 lbs with this car. But I'll live with under 2800 lbs.

Zero chance of me buying it if it is called a Scion. However, my wife and I would like a new toy around to drive and would love this car if under the Toyota brand. If it ends up as a Scion and not a Toyota, we would take a strong look at the Subaru version.

I won't buy anything until I've driven it and I wait to see if a higher performance version a la the G Sports version arrives stateside. I am excited for it, but I'm no fanboi. I own a very capable Mazda and don't expect to be hurting for a car by launch day. It will have some serious competition. Used M3s, used 5.0 Mustangs, used NismoZ, its older brothers, the RX9, the rumored V8 Gen Coupe, Used STI/Evo.
If it comes out with a 200hp NA motor, no LSD, and becomes a car loved by the ricer community, I'm out. If it comes out with some grunt and tunablity and that sexy body, I'm probably in. Too many unknowns at this point. Plus I won't buy a new car til at least summer of 2013, so plenty of time to speculate and decide. |
