lol I have the opposite issue with google map.

When I'm on a long drive I wish it would turn off the screen and wake again when the next turn is coming up. I don't need the map on when it's 130 miles to the next navigation prompt. And if I sleep my screen manually it won't wake when the next instruction is due so I will miss it if I don't turn it back on.

Well on the flip side, I'd rather leave that 200ft of space in front of me, versus someone trying to squeeze into 5 or 10 ft in front of me. Plus, this way, if I'm in the right lane and there's a few cars trying to merge onto the highway, they can all fit in and no one has to touch their brakes.

People with your mentality of leaving no space for others is part of the reason why traffic gets slowed down so much. People constantly braking, and creating a huge ripple effect for people miles behind you.

I said in heavy traffic. When everybody is on their brakes most of the time anyway, and 200 ft is enogh space for five or six cars. Whenever you leave those 200 ft in front of you, 5 cars get backed up somewhere behind you.

Point still stands. Heavy traffic wouldn't be a thing (excluding accidents and closures) providing people could select proper lanes and leave space.

I understand from guys on another thread that you have no choice but to leave 200ft with a FRS since the car can not keep up with stop and go traffic anyway.

In same places probably yes.

But here traffic is heavy because of there is far too many cars relative to the infrastructure. I agree that you should leave space when it's needed, when someone is trying to merge in front of you. Leaving space just because maybe someone will want to merge two miles down the road is wasting precious space.

This is not unusual for my commute:

Same with me. But the less I need to hit my brakes, the less I'm slowing down the people behind me and the less gas I use. So it's a win-win.

I get to work no faster when I leave space, or when I go bumper to bumper. What does that tell you about leaving space? I'd buy your argument if I was getting places faster, but I'm not. If anything, traffic moves much smoother around me if I leave space, as everyone has an adequate amount of room to make lane changes, merge, exit, etc without putting on their brakes to squeeze into a gap, and slowing down not one, but TWO lanes. Imagine that, huh?

Can doughnuts be forged if they are hand made? Sounds more like flow formed to me

I thought forged is strong because of the forming process

When Toyota builds a car and decides the dash/center console needs 3-4 different colors for the lights. Color coordination, Toyota, learn it.

THIS but not just Toyota everybody.
My 08 lancer had all red. Everything on the dash was red. I was overjoyed.
The 12 had red heater/accessory controls, blue radio, red white blue gauges and yellow indicators. Looked like the bloody Vegas strip.

It's not about you, it's about people behind you.

Just yesterday I moved to a lane which normally at this point goes much faster than other lanes, and also an exit lane splits from it. I was held back by a mini which kept 200 empty space in front. And that empty space grew, as the cars in front accelerated, and the mini did not. I could not take advantage of the fast-moving lane lane, also people behind use were prevented from getting to the exit lane for much longer than necessary. So the mini driver not only wasted space in front of him/her, but also delayed relasing more space by exiting drivers. Delaying a lot of people behind.
