I can't find the bypass pressure for these filters. Subaru specs a very high bypass pressure (23psi) but most aftermarket filters have bypass valves rated for about half that. I'm not confident that these filters are any different.

Good luck finding any spec like that, the only company I've seen list them is WIX. Their filter for the FA20 is rated at 28psi for the by-pass valve http://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/Par...spx?Part=57830

The only way I could be persuaded into buying a filter other than OEM is if it had a permanent metal casing with replaceable filter insert. That way you could just change the filter cartridge for a few bucks and produce less waste from metal filters over the life of the vehicle.

Now the STi Filters over the years have been hard to get but I am almost positive that putting one of those on a WRX has given us 15-25whp gain on the Dyno. It's only if you use the JDM STi filters though, any other "regular" STi filter like EDM or USDM will not yield the gains of the JDM STi Tyte Type Filter.

i know this is an old thread and all, i was just curious as to how putting a JDM STI filter on a WRX gained 15-25whp... or was it sarcasm??

its basically paper in a can, kid......it does not increase displacement nor does it increase air to fuel ratio in your intake manifold.

You can just pop a normal magnet to any spin off filter for much the same result.
