Coilover alignment

Hey everyone ,

Did a search but couldn't find anything that wasn't region specific.

Do you need to go to a performance shop for an alignment with coilovers, or could you take it to the dealer or other normal shop?

Not sure if it would be an issue since you don't adjust the camber the same way that you would in stock trim.

Thanks!

From my adjustable suspension FAQ (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103609)

Final Thoughts:

Even for a DD alignment is important. Factory specs are broad and most places only care that all the numbers are in the green and not what they actually are. Handling matters in emergency breaking situations so having something that is set correctly is important to everyone. Not to mention .2 toe in may not be great for tire wear with you -2 camber.

Find a reputable alignment shop. Know what specs you are looking for and can achieve with your set-up. Make sure the shop can work with those settings and your parts. Every shop is different so check with them beforehand.. Check the alignment before its off the rack and always get a final printout when done.

I had read that thread before. I know that I do need an alignment, that it's important, and that I need to go to a reputable alignment shop. I know several good places to get A car aligned near me, but I don't know if they're still good options for MY car due to the coilovers.

Most places say they can do it, but in general, have any of you found that it's better to look for a performance shop? Or have you found that that's not necessary?

Like it says, call them and ask. Some dealers may do it, some wont. Some mom and pop shops will do it, some wont. Some chains will do it, some wont. If you want specific specs a performance shop is your best bet though. tell them what you have and what you want in terms of specs and see what they say.

I do have specific specs that I want from reading recommendations here, so I may need to go to a performance shop. The closest good one is an hour away, so that's why i was so curious if I need to go to one.

The dealer near me and a couple others around me have all said they will do it, but there's a difference between willing to do it and doing it well... If I'm not sure I guess I should just play it safe and make the drive though

Thanks!
