has the door courtesy LED blowing the BIU problem been fixed with 2016 brz?

i know this is really risky. some ppl replace their door bulbs with leds and are fine, and some blew their BIU. some ppl said it's because they didn't do it correctly, IE didn't disconnect battery or take out the complete housing, some ppl said they did it correctly but BIU was still blown.

so question is, has this problem been fixed with 2016 brz? or is this still an on going problem. i replaced my map, license plate, and interior trunk lights with leds and would really like to replace the doors too, but blowing the BIU scares me and i don't wanna change everything back and bringing the car back to the dealer.

Electronics on these cars seem to be reaaaaalllllly finicky. See, e.g., the DD always-on kit. Works perfectly for some (me included). Blows fuses for others.

So the answer is: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Uhmmm. I dunno what this is all about, but I guess I have a "non-finnicky" model because I've had LEDs everywhere including the door puddle lamps for over a year now, and nothing has exploded yet.

Yea, the people that blew the BCU/BIU had really crappy LEDs or accidentally shorted connectors, all the lights on my car are now LED with no issues, keep in mind this wasn't just originally a BR-Z issue it was a BR-Z/FRS issue.

Not door lights, interior lights same issue, if you get quality ones from diode dynamics you won't have any issues

Depends on the version of the FRS. Normal base model, no. Monogram, RS, etc will have them.

You have a Premium. Basically an FRS with HID's

To answer the main question, doubt anything has changed, but I bought the full LED assemblies (as well as the ones for the license plate) to avoid the potential issues. Plus they're MUCH brighter.

I know right?

To think they would skip out on door lights this day and age. Hell pretty much every base model car has them. I was dumb founded when I popped the cover off and saw nothing.
