Changing out the door/courtesy lights - problem
For those that changed out the door lights to leds - did anyone have a problem with a dim/non functioning harness?
My driver's side door is having a problem - tried one set of led bulbs, in the drivers side door it was dim, so I left it alone and ordered another set of bulbs (passenger side is fine). Once I got the new set, the passenger side is still completely fine, but the drivers side bulb will not light at all - even going back to the incandescent bulb isn't working anymore. Wondering if it's possible I blew a fuse or shorted something out....? Seems silly I know but just looking for a little help in the event I'm missing something small, before I take it back to the dealer to have them look at what I potentially screwed up. Oh, and yes I tried flipping the bulbs both ways, no dice. |

I had this problem. I had to take it into the stealership because i crossed a wire and blew the BIU "body integrated unit". This is like the ecu of all the electrical stuff in the car. They had to order a new one and then reprogram everything. Luckily for me they covered it under warranty. They were going to make me pay but they couldn't prove i caused the issue because i put the stock bulbs back in. Part was over $600 and labor would have been 6 hours because of time to reprogram and install.

If you want to try to have them warranty it. If you don't they will see that you swapped the bulbs and try to blame you for the failure and might not cover it under warranty.

I had a problem with the LED not lighting up at first on the driver side. My problem was that the enclosure for the light wasn't completely snapped together. It looked correct, but I guess something was loose. I had to take it out again and make sure that whole entrapment was completely secured and locked closed....then my light started lighting up.
Maybe that'll help. If not...then definitely take it to the dealership and see if there's something damaged. Those door lights are a PITA to take out!

Disconnect battery first, or you may blow the BIU. Mine didn't do it under warranty, I paid for it and left them alone from then on.
