How the F do i know what size lugs i need?

i just bought some XXR 530 17x7 flat black and they are gorgeous. i bought black lugs but apparently according to the shop that mounted them i bought the wrong size lug. i bought 12x1.5 and they claim i need 12x1.25. idk if i should trust them or not so im coming to the real experts lol. how the fuck do i know whats the right size lug?!?!?!

Yeah you want that M12x1.25 and make sure they give you some of those little square tiles that go inside the rim as well.

Technically it's the wrong thread pitch - distance between one thread and another.

Fun fact if you drive the manual version: Your shift knob has the same thread diameter and pitch as the lug nuts.

If your bought lugnuts of wrong thread size are of veeery expensive & rare type, you may consider getting some extended studs to accompany their 12x1.5 thread.
Unless that, yes, as other already noted, original studs & lugnuts are threaded 12x1.25 on ours, and lugnuts should be changed to right ones.
.. and imho it certainly should be noted in manual (referring to thread title).

Totally throwing my stock lugs on my shifter tonight. JDM AF.

Edit: M12x1.25 is the size for the stock studs
