You want to do the solid spacers and new bearings while you are in there. Doing Diff work is not simple, its a lot of measuring and can require some special tools for measuring backlash, and special torque wrenches to measure rolling resistance.

I called Weir last Monday and my stuff arrived this Monday. I had called him about 2 weeks prior to ordering and he told me it was a good idea to find an experienced differential tech before I bought anything, and I did just that. After we hung up he sent me a list of parts and told me when I was ready to order to pick what I wanted from the list. He recommended a 4.56 ratio for me. The rest of the stuff on the list was 2 stub shaft seals, pinion seal, inner pinion bearing, outer pinion bearing, FRS solid spacer kit, pinion nut, and 2 special-order OEM carrier bearings.

Talked to wier today, good guy, clear communication. Putting a 4.88 in my manual. It's (way) cheaper to go through him. He did mention us 86 guys are keeping him busy.

His email is full. Give him a call, leave a number. Left him a message Friday he called me Tuesday.

Put it this way...with everything except shims it cost me less than the cusco...

P.s. he might be looking for a ride in an 86 if any of you are in SoCal

I ordered a 5.29 for my car from Pat Cyr at Cyrious Garageworks. He does the install as well and has a 4.88 in his car if you want to see what it feels like.

Your best bet with weir is through email. Payment was done through PayPal and although it's not on there website, they do have the 4.88 option.

He never replied to any of my emails, but I called and received 4.88 FD in a week or so. (Europe)
I recommend calling him.

How much was it in total + installation and how long did it take?

Pat quoted me 4-5 hour install time. I haven't had everything arrive yet and my car is still in storage. The dollar is crap right now so it doesn't make it better. I'm also doing a diff cover, AL driveshaft and MFactory 1.5way LSD at the same time.

I called Pat this morning to ask about setting up a group buy for you guys. He said 4-5 people would be enough. If you're interested give him a call at 905-403-9888 you can ask for Dan (Pat's brother) or Pat. Tell them you talked to Paul so they know what to put your order for a group buy.
