Nothing wrong with tried and trued engine swaps. People do it because it works and can be done with someone else's fuck up and headaches, the next person will be able to take those into consideration have spend less money than the original person that did the swap. By all means go for the KA-T. It's good to see that this platform can fit almost anything.

Personally, I think the 300-ish whp mark is perfect on those 240s. Very responsive, usable power, and still at a reliable level. Having driven cars ranging from stock KA-Es up to ProAm level JZ powered cars, one of my absolute favorite's was a friends S13 that ran an SR with a 2871 .64a/r, poncams, PowerFC etc. E85 and made just over 330whp. It was stupid fun. Quote:
SR vs. KA: I'd honestly rather take the SR. The aftermarket and tuning selection is endless, and provided you use the proper components and tuning, they can last. Just like KAs. A lot of the KAs I see blow up are people running stock internals with some Ebay turbo kit pushing like 300whp and a garbage tune. Obviously it's going to go. My biggest gripe with the KAs and SRs are the transmissions. Once you start getting into the mid-high 300s, you start running into the issues of them grenading (in drifting applications), especially when you start running higher levels of grip. Of course, swapping to a different trans is an option... but still. ________________________________________ All in all, I'm pro SR. KA-T with forced induction and near the limit of what's safe on stock internals is roundabout where a simple SR with a T28 will land you. Plus the availability of parts isn't limited on the SR by any means. Options are limitless. Personally, I can't see the reason from ditching the FA20 to put in a KA24. It just doesn't make any sense to me, and this is coming from somebody who strongly believes this car would have been way better with an Inline 4, rather than a boxer 4. If you want to do it just to do it, and be different, then by all means-go ahead. If I were spending my money on a swap, I'd be going VVTi 1JZ with R154. Bolt-ons and tune yields mid 300s easy and the drivetrain can take the abuse all day. Plus, the engine really isn't much more than an SR. It's quite cheap. The transmission is where the cost starts getting higher.

When you start seeing single cam KA S13s with a welded diff and busted exterior on ISIS coilovers for 6k, then you can complain about drift tax lol
