TPMS initialization question.

Just wondering if the dealer has to dismount the tire from the wheel in order to initialize a new TPMS to your car, or if they can initialize it without having to take the tire off?

I believe they have to dismount them in order to get the code off the TPMS

I don't understand the question. Are these new wheels, new tires, and new TPMS that did not come with the vehicle? Do you already have the codes for the new TPMS?

Nope I am getting a new set of wheel's and ideally I would have liked to go to the dealer with the TPMS mounted to my new wheel's and have them initialize it without having to remove the tire off my wheel again.

You still aren't being clear in your responses. Are the TPMS SENSORS NEW? If they aren't, you shouldn't need to do anything at all.

Yes the TPMS is new. I am currently running without any TPMS. Sorry I had just got off a 12 + hour shift and I am tired.

The way our TMPS works is the code has to be manually put into the car via tech stream. You can only have 1 set of TPM's programmed to the car. Example, if you have winter and summer wheels both with TPMS and your summers are on and thats the TPMS set you are using all will be fine until your winters go on. At that time even though they have TPMS you still need to dismount them to get the code to put into the cars computer via tech stream or your tire light will be on until your summers go back on. Then come summer tire you need to dismount your summers to get the code to program those ones to the car or the light will come on.

TLDR You can only have 1 set programmed to the car at one time. Dismount is required to get code for program. There is no way to have summer and winter wheels both with TPMS that works just by swapping wheels, a dismount and trip to dealer is required.
