Haha I hear ya!

Select Column > Format Cells > Custom > In the type box Overwrite "General" with zeros for the number of zeros your number sequence should contain (eg. if your number sequence should be 0123456, then type in 0000000)

OR

Select Column > Data Tab click "Text to Columns" > Delimted (click "Next") > (click "Next" again) > Column data format (click "Text") > (click "Finish").

Either way should do the trick. If not, you're boned

YYYY/MM/DD
Sorting.
So much easier this way to figure out where the script borked.
Or where that picture was filed.
Most significant to least significant.
Not going to change to make your feelers unsigned.

YYYY/MM/DD - makes sense, sorts correctly
DD/MM/YYYY - makes sense, does not sort correctly
MM/DD/YYYY - WTF?

MILES?

1 mile = 1609 metres

1 kilometre = 1000 metres

if someone wants to know how many metres are in 3km. 3x1000 = 3000
in miles..... 3 x 1609 metres = what?

It gets worse if you stick to US system.

1 km = 1000 m
1 m = 100 cm
1 cm = 10 mm

1 L = 1000 mL

1 kg = 1000 g

by the way, 1 litre of water weighs exactly 1 kg

Now

1 mile = 1760 yd
1 yd = 3 ft
1 mile = 5280 ft
1 ft = 12 in
and then you get into 8ths, 16ths, 32nds... WTF?

Also 1 US gallon = 8 pints
1 pint = 16 fl oz

And 1 pint of water weighs 1.042 pounds.... WTF?
1 pound = 16 oz

Method 1 displays the zeroes but they're not actually values in the cell; Method 2 is where it's at. I call shenanigans regardless :p

everyone talking about our fuckin weird system, dont get me started on inches. Why the hell does someone think that the system of 10s isnt good? really?

At the same time, who thought time should be measured in 60' seconds...

I actually love the metric system. Base 10? Why the hell wouldn't you use that. I hate laying under a car doing fractions in my head.
