Some will agree to disagree. Many there is no compromise (me as well on some subjects).
'Tis the way of the internet.
Fun part is that all the subjects we debate so strongly here are being debate everywhere else as well. Sometimes by people way more qualified then we are.

I mean, you hold the car on the incline suing the foot brake while the car is in neutral. Then you press the clutch, enagage the first gear, pull the hand brake, move you right foot to the accelerator (without unnecessary rush, the car won't roll because of the hand brake), then smoothly release the clutch, press the accelerator, and release hand brake all three at the same time.

I can understand that you would consider it excessive, because you don't feel rushed and you are quick enough that the car won't roll back. But I don't see a hazard.

I said **I** would be a hazard because I drive fluidly as I have for so long that adding a step like that would make me wait to long at lights to get going or possibly stall. I look at it this way...if it isn't broke no need to fix it.

I don't roll back at stops if I do it's minimal and certainly nothing close to 20cm. I've never rolled into even the most determined tailgater and I've been at this over 25 years. What works for me or you may not work for the next person. I would be a hazard trying to use the hand brake (aka emergency brake). I would bet most folks who learned manual before hand brakes don't not use it either.
You'd fail your UK driving test doing that. Of course having passed their test most people do what you describe (BTW here if you take the test in an auto you're not allowed to drive a manual, but hardly anybody has an auto).

25 years of driving, and I've only driven an auto once and didn't like it very much. But I still struggled with this car. Thanks to the high bite point (better when you adjust it), lack of clutch feel and the way the throttle pedal seems to go from 0 to 90% in 1/2 inch of travel it's the most difficult manual car I've driven and the first few weeks I was kangarooing out of junctions like a learner.

Not that I plan to move to the UK but what part would cause a failure? Lack of use of the hand brake?

hydralics, clutch springs, etc. All these convience things suck and get rid of all the feel. Hell even the stock shifter is garbage. When I drove a MT the first time it made me glad I got the AT (first AT I have ever owned)

The only mt I have driven that was worse was the new VW Rabbits they had out in the mid 2000s. I stalled it like 5 times on the test drive when I helped my aunt gk car shopping.

I removed the stupid clutch spring, so I'm good with that now. The thing that gives me trouble is the throttle. It's really quirky for me, as starting from stop sometimes I'll just get a 200 rpm increase, other times it'll jump by 500+ rpm's, it's very touchy.

might look in to an OFT to help with the throttle mapping. From stock there is a big dead spot (like the first 15% of travel or aomething?) while the oft will make it active much sooner. or Apexi has a stand alkne throttle controller I believe as well. Nekther are cheap but may be worth it if you drive a lot and it bugs you so much. it would for me as driveability is njmber 1 imo

I don't seem to have a dead spot
