Damn that's real cheap. If I still had this I'd probably fab up some piping and give it a shot lol

Well, the ACE header is on. I am quite happy.

And this morning i received my new(used) ESC kit from Lord09. Once I get some extra pieces(some battery tray bits, and maybe a new pedal switch harness) from either Rob or Shiv, I will get this badboy installed. I may not go back down to Cobb right away (it may cause a divorce) but, I can use a local dyno here and do a before and after on the ESC. I think i will be the first person on the forum to be running an ACE header with an ESC.

It is good to be back in the ESC family though. Anytime you can bolt easy and clean power to your car, its always fun. I also snagged an OFT(from Lord09) for my buddies Miata. I am trying to get him to go the ESC route.

Nice! As per the usual let me know if you need anything and I keep us informed. The esc is pretty spectacular on the Miata. I think it fits that engine better than the ft86.

Well, if you have the battery tray parts and a new pedal/switch/fuse harness I will take those.

I am hoping Rob or Shiv get back to me soon.

I was making an assumption that the power made on the Miata would make a bit more of a difference, or at least it feels that way. I was trying to tell my buddy the same thing.

Since you are adding power to a lighter car, and also since you are starting with less power to begin with, the added power would have a more significant impact. Correct?

yes correct. It makes more power on the small engine. So Miata users should definitely feel like it's a big upgrade.

Just FYI: an ic/intercooler/fmic wont do anything for the phantom. A turbo/supercharger needs it since air heats up as it goes through them, but the phantom doesn't heat up the air much, at all (maybe a tiny bit...but nothing an IC would help with). Its not like an intercooler automatically makes air a certain temp, it just keeps temps from getting too high. (So having an IC doesn't turn 90f air into 40f).

90F air with a turbo pre-intercooler is gonna be mid-80's or higher after-intercooler.

90F air with turbo NO intercooler is like 100+after turbo.

90F air with phantom is still 90ish after phantom.

An intercooler won't help cool temps for the phantom, and adding one would just create more lag, pressure drop etc.

The tray vendor and part# areposted somewhere in the main Phantom thread.

If you don't have this stuff, I may have some of it. Will have to dig a little.

So you have logged? Or guessing?

You know PV=nRT (ideal gas always applies). The air is being heated some amount and you could calculate it.

I do agree an intercooler is more trouble than its worth. Works does use that inline intercooler which is interesting but I have a hard time believing it does anything.

I could probaby make the batteries work. I am missing a few blocks, but i could probably rig something. As for the wiring harness, if anyone has an extra please let me know. I didnt think anybody would , but if you do then great.

I asked Rob about the harness. He mentioned i should just undo any mods done to the cable. But that is what i am trying to avoid. I would rather have a healthy one if at all possible. If not then, I can move ahead and do my best.

He also mentioned that my unit was a prototype unit. It looks like the one i had before, so I am not sure what has been changed.

This may be one of the first units... And it may be the one I've helped install several times already.

(By help I mean, email and texts) Does this have the relay?

Even though the topic is about Cold Air Intakes, this video goes through the actual math involved in figuring out the power difference when temperature differences are involved.

Bottom Line: Colder air is denser air, which equates to more power
