I like the factory location better. Plus you are blocking more of the radiator.

How does this look better than simply drilling holes in the front? I don't get what the big deal is with people not wanting to do this. Of course if I lived in a state where it was LEGAL to not use front plates I would, but this looks bad imo.

Same here.

I ordered the GrimmSpeed front plate kit, but I'm a little on the fence with how it looks. I figure I'll give it a couple weeks and see if it grows on me. If not I can always take it off with no holes in the bumper and it's an easy "fix" if I ever get a ticket.

I just leave mine off. Must of saw at least 25 cops since I got my BRZ on June 1st. 6 of them were at 3 in the morning on a deserted popular multi-lane road going slightly over the speed limit. None have pulled me over.

I've considered this option too. But it really does look like a chipmunk now.

I am thinking of using double sided tape to install the standard plate mount. Then I will probably bend under the bottom of the plate to make it look smaller.

Don't see it. Ha.

From the side you can't tell there is a plate at all.

My NYS dealer asked repeatedly before installing the front plate mount on my BRZ, so the dealer is apparently not obligated by law. The mount did, of course, come with the car. You need one by law, you will get tickets if you don't have one, and any attempt to move it elsewhere is going to look worse. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think the factory-mounted front plate looks bad at all; I have no problem with it whatsoever. I have much more important things to worry about in my life than where the front plate goes on my car.

And, the car drives as well with it mounted as not..... and that's why I bought it.

Dealer had me sign a paper stating that I didn't want the front plate mounted and that I know it's illegal, in CA, to run without a front plate. I have the bracket in my car. I will just get a tow hook adapter when the plates come in. I'd prefer to not have front plant and I prefer to not drill holes in my car but I really prefer to not give the cops here a reason to pull me over so it'll go on.

I don't think that they're obligated by law to install the front license plate mounts because the law isn't about the mounts; it's about the license plates themselves, which you obviously won't have at the time of the vehicle purchase. It's the same reason why you're not in violation of the law when not running a front plate if they just haven't arrived yet.

Kind of a shitty reply. It's a customization, you will find that people will be doing all sorts of things to their cars to make them their own.

My Subaru dealer said they were obligated by state law to have a plate on the front of the car. They allowed me to put my tow hook kit on the front of the car when I picked it up so they wouldn't have to drill for the bracket. I did of course get the bracket. My area is close enough to other states that I don't think cops really care to pull people over for just the front plate.
