BRZ Front License Plate Custom Mount
Picked up my car Friday night (6/1/12) and drove it home with no front plate. First order of business for Saturday morning was figuring out how to mount the plate without drilling holes directly in to the bumper. I liked the idea of mounting the plate on the grill but the opening on the BRZ was about a half inch short of fitting the plate. After about a half hour of scratching my head I came up with the following idea. To make this work I had to make a cut in the underside of the bumper about as long as the license plate (12") which wasn't difficult at all and without the plate mounted the cut is practically invisible (as thick as the blade used to make it).
I made a bracket using a 12" aluminum ruler (a bicycle spoke ruler to be exact) and drilled the holes in that where necessary. I took the slip on nuts that came in the original plate bracket and slid them on the new mount. Zip-tied the new mount to the bumper and bolted the plate in place. So there you go, nice clean look and no holes in the front of the bumper. Also, one less reason to get pulled over. |

Looks great. Where did you get that bracket?

Looks great, however, looks like you're blocking tons of airflow to the radiator.

There is a bit of room under the plate but I can't imagine that my daily driving will create an issue of not enough airflow to the radiator. I will keep an eye on the temp to be sure. I should be able to move the mount up to the next row in the grill and still have the plate numbers visible. That may even be a better look, have to try that out. |

Looks clean! Definitely beats drilling holes in a new car... I was thinking if I should just get a relocating kit or get a custom vinyl shop to print the plate out in reflective material and stick it in the middle of the 'stache.

And now there is a little more room under the plate for air flow! Best part is the side view. |

I like your idea , now make more of it ,
batch it together along with some simple picture instructions..... Profit I'll buy something like that for $20 and it looks more clean to me than offset plate via tow hook I saw the bike ruler on amazon for 7 bucks and I can scrap up the rest of the stuff I guess.

Also this may be illegal in some states. Oregon says you can't have anything that isn't a plate holder covering any part of the plate :/ |
