My Front Plate Solution

I was able to get my dealer to not drill holes for my front plate and instead I folded the bottom of the plate down some and zip tied it below the mouthguard in the bumper. Heres how it came out:

why dont u get the grimmspeed holder, they look best on brz not so much on frs

well the price difference between 2 free zip ties and a grimmspeed re-locator is pretty significant. Also I plan to run a tow hook once I get the Styrofoam behind the bumper taken care of.

Or just don't have one on! :D NY requires them, but I heard from numerous people that if you don't have anywhere to mount it, then technically you don't need it. :scared0016:

Why do people that? It looks so much better dead center and your blocking the radiator

Yes, looks way better in the center. Off-center doesn't look right - just draws more attention to something you're trying to minimize. The tow hook solution looks like crap.

Go without, or go center. There are no other options.

Completely agree. I'm debating going without a front, but I'd really rather not have more of a reason to be pulled over my the police.

You could try being honest with him. Ask if you could get out of the car and walk up to the front with him and say "Officer, look at the front of this car. Do you really want me to destroy a thing of beauty by having a front plate mounted here? I don't even have a bracket to mount the plate to begin with!"

The dealer actually never even drilled holes in my front bumper. I was thinking about tell the officer that if I ever got pulled over.

Especially since many people are running semi-illegal tint and/or windshield mounted radar detectors. :P

I'm going without. At least if you get pulled over, it's not a moving violation. And since I've decided to go that route, I started counting the number of cars that are without front plates - it's quite a few (at least 10-15 every time I commute).

States could make good money if they just allowed people to pay an extra fee to go plateless on the front. I'd happily pay another $50/year just to go plateless without worry.

I'd gladly pay that.

My BRZ came with a really clean front plate mount from the factory for the center of the "mustache" and I'd rather have my plate centered than off-centered. Did no one elses BRZ come with a front plate mount? That seems really weird to me, did Subaru only ship full front plate mounting brackets with cars destined for New England?

You can see it here:
