I was out having some fun in my BRZ on some local backroads in the Falls Lake area close to Raleigh.
The roads up there are open and have little traffic. I had just finished doing a couple of spirited runs on the one local twisty road I have found (Beaver Dam rd) and was about to head back home. I decided to do a 0-60 run on the connecting road (long straight). I ran the car to the top of the first three gears. The weather was clear and sunny, and there were no other vehicles in sight. This wasn't something that is dangerous to other people in any way. Right at the top of third, a state trooper rounds the bend a quarter mile up the road. His radar nails me for 77 in a 55. At this point, I was done with my jollies and was coasting back down to a normal speed. I saw a grey car come around the bend up the road but I could not tell it was a trooper. The trooper pulled off the road and did a u-turn as I passed and pulled me over. His tone was ****ish, but he wasn't belligerent. The whole encounter took less than five minutes and I had my ticket. This is an example of everything lining up at precisely the wrong moment. There was a window of about 5 seconds where I was at a speed fast enough to get tagged, and the trooper happened to round the corner at precisely the worst time. My record is clean, and according to my research this shouldn't be a big deal. This is considered a class 3 misdemeanor here, but a lawyer should be able to reduce it to something comparatively harmless. |

Right now I only speed at corners with FRS, I dont drive fast on freeway or local.
I usually keep it under the legal limit. Before I got a FRS, few years back.I have gotten 4 speeding tickets, 2 stop sign tickets, 2 fixing tickets. within 2 and half years. my license was about to suspended at that time. The funny thing is that the DMV send me a letter regarding about my mental condition and recommended me to see a psychologist. (OFCAUSE I DONT HAVE MENTAL ILLNESS) I am just doing what a young car guys does and pay with pride. Since i am getting older,25 now. I rarely drive fast unless its a off road. (Maybe launch a few 0-60 when entering freeway.) I recommend younger people to drive slow on the road because 1 mistake can regret forever. |

^ Speeding is a mental illness. You should check yourself into a psych ward. That is too funny. I would have framed that and hung it up on the wall for everybody to see.
All I can add to this is if you don't want tickets, get a good radar detector. Since my purchase of one, zero tickets thereafter. It makes you much more aware of your surroundings and you become a better driver from it. |

I have a Lightning Red BRZ and rarely drive the speed limit. I've had the car for a year and half now and have yet to be pulled over, but I think that has more to do with where I live and dumb luck.
I drove a black Camaro before getting this car and honestly I think I got more attention from cops in the Camaro. |

Got a warning ticket last month from a county sheriff on one of the back roads here in TN. Got me for 55 in a 40 zone. He was hiding behind an old barn. I think he expected to see someone younger driving. Shortly after I purchased a radar detector.
Over the years I've gotten speeding tickets in NY, NJ (more than 1), PA, OH, WV, and IL. |

Man it's pretty cool that camera offences don't result in demerit points for you guys. That doesn't apply for Australia.

3+hr drive to and from work everyday. 50+ tickets second term probation. the cops love me. been chased by a plane once for 60+ miles. pilot actually complimented me on good driving, as per what the trooper on the ground told me.

Been stopped twice. First was because the temp tags were not visible due to 5% tint. Other was doing +4 over while cruising with a car group where people were racing. No ticket though.

not parading it, but with the long drive I usually cruise around 10mph over on open stretches of freeway, just unlucky a lot.
