Question Does anyone know the thread type and color stitching used in the HyperBlue BRZ?

Hello,

I have a 2016 BRZ Series.HyperBlue and ordered the FR-S center console Scion accessory online, knowing that it comes stitched in red. I found a lady by me that reupholsters furniture and when I showed her the uninstalled armrest piece, she said she would have no problem restitching it. Her best guess was that it's a #207 nylon thread. After looking at the stitching inside the car, she said it looked like turquoise to her, but she would have to know what color I wanted before she placed the order.

I would like to get the closest matching thread color and size that I can to make it look as factory as possible.

Has anyone else done this kind of conversion already or are familiar with upholstery? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot everyone,
Bill

No clue. My best bet would be to take her something that's stitched blue, like the passenger head rest and have her match it up.

May want to ask JPM Coachworks. I know that other members have said they've had things restitched by them, just comes down to whether they would actually tell you.

Can the red stitching be replaced by blue on an Alcantara seat? If anyone knows...

It is possible, but holy cow that'd be a lot of work. Essentially, you'd be re-upholstering the entire seat all over again, just with new thread. Then, if whoever did the upholstery work didn't line up the old seat covers just right, you could see stitching holes in some spots, and it would now be weaker because you just put twice an many needle holes in the same area on the fabric.

You could try staining/painting the current thread, but that sounds time consuming and would probably cause accidental stains on the seat fabric itself too. Good luck!

Just have the leather redone at a shop so the would stitch from new instead of trying to line up the old holes. Plus you could add piping if you want.
