I have sort of a weird picture request if someone could fulfill it. LED turn signals

I'm looking into getting some LED turn signals for the front of my BRZ and I was curious what an LED bulb with a black housing would look like in the reflector while OFF. If anyone has a setup like this and has a picture, please post it. I'm curious to see if it makes the inside of the headlight look darker. Thanks.

P.S. This is what I mean by bulb with black housing just FYI.http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Resistor-...lVUV7-&vxp=mtr

my setup is the opposite of what you want to get lol. the chrome trim on the LED bulb would probably go pretty well in a stock reflector... but black might look out of place. I should probably get some black bulbs lol

he means that since the turn signal housing is reflective, it might reflect the black color of the LED bulb when it's off during the day and make it seem sort of tinted. however, if you really wanted the inside blacked out, it's best to just crack open the lights and paint it lol

For reference, LED bulbs in a stock (non-painted housing)

Do you have photo and video of the turn signal on?

I was thinking of doing this when I get mine. Did you have to do anything to fix the rate of the blinking or was it completely plug and play?

you will need to get an LED flasher relay otherwise it will hyper blink. I had installed the relay prior when I got my Tom's tail lights so I didn't need to do anything special.

I don't know if DD's kit is like this, but some of the LED kits come with resistors you solder in to prevent the hyper blink, or you can just buy the resistors on ebay. However, you don't need the resistors if you instead replace your blinker relay with one made for LEDs (like the relays that come with LED tails as ryoma mentioned). Personally, I think this is a much cleaner solution, since it takes care of all your blinkers with one unit plugged in under the dash rather than having you hack up the wiring at each corner.

I run a TapTurn in mine, which has given me zero issues with front and rear LEDs and also has the advantage of weird hazard lights that get the attention of tailgaters and sometimes make them back off.

Would normal halogen blinkers work in the front if I got tom's and put the relay on to prevent the hyperblink in the rear?

Also, which bulbs did you decide to go with. You forgot to answer in the last post :p

Yes. I ran mine like that for over a year before finally replacing the stock bulbs with LEDs (I don't recall the make off the top of my head--a member here had them for sale). The only difference is that if one of your front blinkers goes out, the relay doesn't hyberblink to let you know.

I got the HP11's. it's $60 for a pair from Diode Dynamics, so not really that cheap haha.

I've done this on mine - ordered the LEDs from DiodeDynamics. They have an ugly yellow base, so I wrapped that with black electrical tape before installing. Gives the headlights a nice monochromatic finish, in my opinion. You can sort of see that in the attached pic below.
