Mystery BRZ interior LED Lights?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a used 14 Limited BRZ, and I noticed the previous owner installed/had someone install footwell LED lighting.

I gotta be honest, I hate them. The fact that the dash and center console is red, and the LED lights are blue, really throw me off when driving at night.

I noticed they come on when I turn the BRZ's lights on, and I'm able to adjust the brightness along with the gauge and navi.

I did some searching and found that the dealers would charge $100 (what a rip off!) for interior illumination, however I couldn't find if one is actually able to disable these lights. Without cutting the wires obviously.

I could just electrical tape them, but I'm curious if anyone has these and are able to disable them.

Thanks for the help,

May not like the lights, but they make my indoor soccer shoes look cool!

Those shoes are on point!! I believe your only options is to cut them out. They may be plugged in somewhere or have a fuse that would make it super easy but don't waste too much time looking. I would just cut 1 wire and tape it to the other wire and wrap it with electrical tape, problem solved.

if it is the dealer option, there should be a plug under there that you can unplug.

I just responded to this in another thread. The easiest way to turn off the footwell lights is to unplug the connectors by the lights themselves. The connectors are a few inches of wire away from the lights and wrapped in adhesive foam tape. Peel the tape off and unplug the connection. I have blue ones in my '13 and hated them.

Thanks guys, Tobin was right, all I had to do was peel back that nasty tape and unplug the LED lights. Can't believe someone payed a hundred bucks to get these installed.

These only work well if you have red, I have a red one on all the time and it looks a lot better when it's at night

I was gonna get this, under the assumption they only came on when the door opened. Changed my mind when I found out that ran all the time AND just how expensive it was to install

Yea they don't come on until you turn your lights on. And you can't toggle them. I think Red would have been fine, but blue really throws me off.

Anyone know if the wires are set in the FRS too? Certainly wouldn't pay a dealer to do it at that price, and if the connection is there, it would be easy to do. There's no way I could do the blue, but red might look good

There's a DIY on how to wire a red light to the 12v in the glove box, and I wired a white strip to my dome light. Look up @ledworkz on Instagram and scroll down and you'll see what I mean.
