I just read most posts on this threads, and I'm the same way Steve. I just got my car in November, and only wondered if I read the right thing because of money. It's the first car I buy from a dealer, and the monthly payments scared me. I used to buy cheap used cars and just pay all of it.
I'm happy with my FR-S, and the only thing that bothers me now is audio, which can be upgraded later on once money allows!

200 horsepower is a lot of power for a car that only weighs as much as a Corolla. 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds is fairly quick in the grand scheme of things. Your average commuter car still takes 8-9 seconds to hit 60 mph And I don't know how people keep saying you'll get smoked by a minivan. Minivans do 7.5 seconds without passengers or cargo. 1) Get a manual. 2) Use the recommended 93 octane fuel (or an octane booster if you can't get 93) 3) Finally, and this is the most important: REV THE SHIT OUT OF IT. We have a 7400 rpm redline. Use it. Practice nailing that perfect shift and chirp the shit out of those tires. Granny shifting is punishable by torque dip

It is true what they are saying. This car is quick and higher revs and the ass can easily esape you up in the higher revs. The car has adequate power for its weight.

Henry Ford was a huge admirer of Edison, hence it makes sense that he named his son after his hero. The Edison division of Ford was a huge success when it debuted in 1953, the Edison eventually became Ford's most popular brand, and continues on today with the popular, Edison Menlo Park sedan, Edison Filament coupe, Edison Direct Current electric car and the Edison Alva truck series.

Listen, im 19 and i work at my local tgi fridays resturant as a server 3-5 days a week. I got my frs this june. I went in with no credit what so ever. None. Never had a credit card or anything to build my credit. I traded in my 04 jeep liberty with 170k miles for 2300$. My monthly payments are 450$ a month. At no point in the past 7 months have i complained about my car paynents. This car is what they have said it to be. It is amazing. Is it for everyone? Probably not. Keep the car for a year and a half and see how you feel afterwards. Here in nj where i live we get a shit load of snow. The pat storm i was so scared to drive but it wasnt that bad. Got stuck like 2 times but they were probably my fault so theres that. Throw some sandbags in the back and carry a shovel if youre worried about snow. But in the summer on an open road this car is beastly i dont care what horsepower it has. Just my thoughts though. I love this car to death.

OP, get your car some nice snow shoes (I got Continental ExtremeWinterContact DW, but others have been happy with Blizzaks etc.), and find a nice empty parking lot (check for curbs!).
Hold down your traction button for 5 seconds, and have at it (you don't need to be going very fast). That should cure your regrets (not to mention, experiencing skids in safe, controlled situations will prepare you to become a better driver in the winter). AWD will help you get rolling from a stop, but it only provides marginal benefits in the turns, and certainly doesn't help you stop any better. I'd say the AWD winter advantage is highly overrated. |

I can attest that this car is great in the winter. I am from Toronto and I got my 2016 FRS this past November (RIP Jetta). You just HAVE to have winter tires. But other than that, the car is super responsive and the nannies do a really good job of keeping you safe on the road. Then when you find a parking lot with a nice layer of snow you can turn the nannies off and do things very few other cars can do. Enjoy the car. Its meant to be driven.
