I'm so sick of those who say the car has no power. These clowns

Could it use more power? yes.

But those who say the FRS is slow car don't know how to keep the car in gear, and quite frankly I think they don't know how to drive at all.

Its more than fast enough.

Yep, exactly.

People complain about it being slow because they went to floor it at a light because they think the other drivers will think "OMG....HIS AMAZING! I WANT TO BE LIKE THAT DRIVER!"...when in reality everyone is either ignoring them or thinking "what a moron...the next light is red"

Jokes aside....seriously 200hp is plenty of power on such a light car. I bet so many people complaining can't even take this car to 100% potential.

I completely agree....any quicker and I would be in big trouble. Love the car.

Here's my back story:
I'm 24 years old, and drove a 2001 Dodge Intrepid from the time I was 19 up until August 2015. My engine shit the bed, and I wasn't in the best financial situation, so I had to wait and save for a car. Last year, I went through some shitty decisions that affected my credit score (dropped to a womping 550). Last month I decided for ha, ha's to go to my local Toyota dealership and see what was there. Before I knew it I was approved for a loan for an FRS ($17k, with 17k miles). They had to search long and far to find a lender willing to accept me because of my score. I applied to my credit union only to get denied, as well.

Anyway, I'm starting to regret getting the FRS because
1. I live in New England and AWD would've been nice

Not sure why but it's really eating at me. Sorta wished I had gotten a WRX, but then again a WRX with 17k miles would come with a $23k plus price tag. If I spent $17k on a WRX it would probably have close to 80k miles.
Honestly man, once you put some simple mods on the car and drive it alittle longer you'll fall in love. 17k is a really good price for that car, im guessing it still has the favtory warrenties as well. Not to mention toyotas have the best resale value on the market next to subarus. In acouple years once the GT86 community gets alittle more unique you'll be glad you did with scion going out of buisness and all...It might be along time before we see another sports car in the US with a toyota badge. You wont regret it once you put some TLC i to the car i promise.

I live in Westfield. Last night I went up to the Blanford/Russell area, as good as it gets around here, and it's only 15 minutes from my house. It'd definitely be cool to cruise with another FRS/BRZ. There's a few more of us in the Westfield/Westside area.

You realize that they are still going to bring the 86 over right? Scion is gone the car is not. They will not be "more unique" in a couple of years since they will still be selling them. They will just have a different badge.

Okay troll what I'm saying is that he owns an "FRS", thats the "uniqueness", gt86 is the model not the brand...just like Dastsun vs's Nissan...umm mercury and ford...? An 90's eclipse is the same as an eagle talon but the eagle talon was discontinued but it was still made by mitsubishi... I don't know how much more i can dumb this down to prove the point...

Get in it, go on a road trip, when applicable kick the arse end out, keep the revs high and the car will give you all the reasons to keep it itself.
Life is short but a cars life is generally shorter, if you want a WRX finish paying off the FRS, sell it and buy one but all that is going to happen is you will buy one and wish you had bought another model, another year, another color, another manufacturer and so on.
Even people who love JUST FRS/86/BRZ will at times wish they had bought another trim level, model, year or even just look at another forumers car and think "damn, i should have got that color, those wheels, that trim"

Don't be as hasty about selling it as you were about buying it, because that solves nothing, just go out and enjoy what you have while you have it.

If AWD is what you kinda wish you had, just get you some blizzaks or just some good winter tires.

You saved 7K on getting the FRS instead of the WRX so I think financially you made a good decision now you just gotta make a good decision on some winter tires.

You don't need awd, it is totally and completely unnecessary. I drove around in the middle of that wonderful blizzard we had yesterday on General snow tires and I couldn't even tell there was snow on the ground. This car handles amazingly in the snow with good snow tires. AWD is for people who don't want to learn how to drive.

The point is you are not that bright. There is absolutely nothing unique or interesting about a crappy badge. It is amazingly sad you don't know anything at all about Mercury except that Ford killed them. Ford did not always own Mercury. Oh, and Eagle sucked.

Troll? Really? I asked a legit question whether you liked it or not..
Ya and we saw such a massive increase in value in Datsuns when the badge changed. Those that had them are all millionaires now. Your other examples all were actually slightly different cars not just a badged same model like the FRS was.
A badge means NOTHING as far as the uniqueness of the car goes.
Please do not become insulting. If you wish to debate then debate the subject do not attack me.
