Traction Control and ABS warning light comes on

Hey guys, so I realize there are a number of threads on this subject already, but I couldn't find an answer in any of those, so I'm making a new one. Please don't be angry, I'm a nice guy

So I installed some HKS Hipermax coilers this weekend, along with the shortened HKS stabilizer links that came with the kit, and some adjustable rear lower control arms (which are set to maximum negative camber for the time being). The alignment on the car is currently completely out of whack, as in, it drives like poo poo, and holding the steering wheel straight has the car turning right at a significant angle. I'm waiting for the springs to settle and to figure out my final drop height on my new wheels before I take her in for an alignment.

Now to the point of the story - If I drive the car nice and easy, as in city cruising, everything is fine. As soon as I get a little aggressive on the brakes or in the corners, the 'traction control' starts to blink. Eventually the blinking turns into 'traction control' staying on permanently along with the 'ABS' light. Turn the ignition off and back on again, and all the lights reset.

So the question to my long winded story - Could the whack alignment be setting off the alarms? I'm honestly under the impression that it is, but can anyone with any experience in this chime in. Any help is very greatly appreciated.

Yah I figure as much, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Not sure when the alignment will happen as the car is kinda 'in storage / project winter' mode, so I don't drive it much at the moment. I'll definitely post the results when I get it don't though. Cheers!

Just wanted to throw up a quick update in case it helps anyone in the future. I jacked up the car today and did a quick camber adjustment on the rear control arms. It was maxed out before, so I brought it in a bit (this is just temporary, until I get my final alignment done). The Traction Control and ABS warnings are gone and have not come back.

please get an alignment soon lol. it's sketchy as hell driving with an out of whack alignment.

Thanks Captain Obvious! If you read my original post then you would know that an alignment is coming, but there is no point in me wasting my money on one until the springs on the coilovers have settled. Of course, if you would like to send me some money, then I'll go do one first thing tomorrow morning, and then do another at a later time because the alignment will be all messed up again

well, considering you made a post about having VSC/TC kick in due to your alignment and wondering why, I was just making sure you understand the severity of driving with an out of whack alignment. the last thing you want is to end up in a ditch, or taking out another car with you.

I have driven many cars that had been lowered on coilovers, but non had some many silly computerized nannies, hence I had never come across anything such as the above. I fixed up my camber as best as I could this evening by using a square and tape measure, and the car is derivable now. Once the coils settle, I will be getting an alignment. Thank you for your concern

Perhaps. I found a pretty solid shop that I'm planning on visiting to get the alignment done. They do track prep and the works. I'll see what they say.
