I'd definitely buy an Evo IX if I found one for a good price. Unfortunately, everyone wants Evo X money for their Evo IXs... I guess due to rarity and the IX being the preferred track car due to being lighter & sharper?

The Evo is great but the Galant VR-4 is also worth remembering:

The 'base' VR-M still looks better than a lot of the new sedans sold today:

I would totally buy an Mitsubishi if I could find an unmolested Evo IX.

So in other words, no.

No that wouldn't be correct with regards to power. The Evo X had slightly more power than the IX, the trouble was it gained more than 300 lbs and a slight improvement on power won't overcome that weight gain. So instead the IX was faster by virtue of its light weight and more hardcore setup. If you're wondering why the weight gain, its mostly due to safety. Mitsubishi also attempted to make the Evo X more daily driver friendly, something the old Evos did poorly at due to their very harsh ride quality.

It does have great handling compared to the cars in its class. We aren't comparing Mitsubishi Lancers to a Ferrari Italias, are we? The Lancer chassis, while not as wide as the Evo, shares a similar level of stiffness, and the steering is also very direct like the Evo. While the car is no comparison to others outside its class, compare it to a similarly equipped Civic, Focus or Corolla and you will find it much more enjoyable to drive in the curves. And considering the fact that this is a brz/frs/gt86 forum, I'm sure that is a sentiment you can agree with.

No modern Mitsubishi for me. I loved my Starquest but I wouldn't touch a new one.

Mostly because they now make nothing I'd want.

Man I wish this generation of the galant VR-4 made it to the states. I would love to own one.

What a great looking sedan that car was.

Not comparing the OZ to Italias at all. It's just not a "great" handling car. I drove dozens of OZ in my day, and they are shitboxes. 04-04 Ralliart is a much better package.

Hmm that is not a common sentiment in professional reviews or in comments from others here who posted about the same car. I'll consider your opinion on handling a few standard deviations outside of the norm.

No worries, it is only my personal opinion on the car which means nothing. I may have sold you some parts for your Lancer in the past. I helped many make their OZ Lancer's handle even greater.
