None of it is useless. I'm a die hard fan of academia in general. Now, making fun of it, who here doesn't appreciate a little interdisciplinary humor?

That's because I was! Not of you, mind you, just the degree. No need for fisticuffs, Mr. Fisty.

There's no reason for your third statement.
However, you can't say you're not making fun of me but that you're making fun of my major. This is what I'm dedicating 8 years of my life to.
You should respect that, and you shouldn't insult it without knowing what my curriculum or research is.

That's rude.

It's called banter. This is a fun thread. You have to admit a PhD in marketing is a target-rich subject.

...hell, a PhD in anything.

For the most part, I get banter and contribute, but I personally felt that was beyond banter.
Hell, I'm pretty downright mean to my friends in person, but I take people's time and dedication pretty seriously.

Except, you know, when they dedicate it to dumb stuff. Which is why that bothered me.

In other news, the renasaince club at my school is currently sword/shield/axe fighting outside. so, there's that.

EDIT: I wish I was playing with them.

Because I believe strongly in not taking anything, especially oneself too seriously. Otherwise we risk using our credentials in prepubescent d!ck measuring contests.

Jsimon's a SUPER nice guy. I'll just ask you to trust me on that. I am too, BTW.

As in all probability the least educated person here I wondered who was going to snap first.
Really surprised it was the marketing guy though since I had all my money on one of the Engineers (we all know what those people can be like).

In college I lived with two Mechanical, two Aerospace, and one Environmental engineers. I agree with that statement of an engineer not snapping first. There's a reason most engineers could out drink almost anyone else...
