I have an A/T and I ordered a mishimoto and it had adapters with it. However, I had to deal with the boot retainer by cutting it off of the original shift knob and supergluing it to the bottom of the threaded adapter that was shipped with the mishi. After several months, I haven't had a single problem with it and it holds it tightly to the bottom of the mishimoto shift knob.

Yeah, that should work great! Perfect fitment to the boot.
I decided to keep my OEM knob intact. In case a future owner wants it. It's an expensive part to cut up, after all.

I like the Mishimotos too, which one did you get?

Nothing wrong with that one, I like it.
But after all these years I'm pretty sure mrs. Sarlacc will prefer my red snooker ball.
In fact, she'd probably use an Article 27 veto vote.

If she doesn't, I'll launch a coup d'etat. Snooker balls for everyone.

Seems very dangerous. Do you wear your seat belt often? one little accident could mean losing your life to a dildo like shift knob lol

Just curious about the shift boot adapters for automatics. I want to make sure that the retainer that we are being told to buy is the 10x1.25 one and not the 12x1.25 one correct?

Also instead of sawing the retainer in half in order for the automatic boot to fit could you not just unclip the entire shifter trim from the center console and feed the shift boot overtop of the adapter?

We can't rest our hands on our knobs? lol

I drive a manual and thats where I put mine, or down below the knob around the reverse lock out, I might even shift there too. I saw someone here has an arm rest, I think I want one of those

Who's telling you to buy a retainer?
The one I got and hacked up because it didn't fit is 10x1.25 as I stated in post #8.

Look, some people argue that you will wear out the linkage bearings or something like that. Personally, I think it's bs. I've rested my hand on every knob in every car my whole life and I have never had a problem.

There are many arm rests available.
I ordered this from eBay and I'm happy with it. It's taller than the OEM one, looks nice and feels nice.

I ordered the arm rest in 2012 so I had it ready by time I took delivery of my car. Purchase history in eBay doesn't go that far back, so I'd say search...
Be aware that this armrest and most/all non-OEM pretty much fills the center console. There's no lid.
The OEM arm rest is a lid that goes sideways.

Sorry I have just been trying to find a retainer for automatics and have read many threads. I guess I got this one mixed up with another one where someone said that was what you needed to buy.

I understand the thread pitch is 10x1.25 but does it matter which knob I buy because one will say it is for manual short shifters and another will say it is for automatics but they have the same thread pitch.

Thanks
