Basic suspension upgrades on the Spyder will put a smile on your face. You can find a 2zz equipped one for pretty cheap now a days. And usually the suspension will be set up. Have fun on your search. I love my Spyder.

I have owned both. It is MR-S wins by a mile for me. Even when It had the crappy little 1ZZ it was still more fun the the SW20. My SW20s were a 91 NA and a 93 Turbo. Both red. The only thing better about the second gen is the looks.

And they come with the bonus of teaching you how to work on cars. Almost constantly. 6 months of ownership of a 1972 Fiat 124 was an enlightening experience. Almost nothing about it was good but it was very educational.

MR-S = way lighter and better handling. Not as good looking, sure... but a better car.

Mr-s all the way. Get a 2zz in there and that baby should sing. However, I am "a little" biased towards the sw20 models. Simply, they just make power way easier and cheaper. Will be hard to find a clean one though. Way easier to find a clean mr-s because of being newer.

I didn't know it was a competition

The MR-S is a better package from the factory in terms of handling, weight, agility, etc. Also, it's newer and more reliable. The power is the con with the MR-S but I've still looked for one off and on with plans to swap motors.

The biggest con of the MR-S for me is simple the roadster part. It's mostly useless in Florida as it's too damn hot 90% of the year to bother dropping the top yet the sun/elements wear it out so you still have to replace it/care for it/etc. Extra work for something that's basically worthless here.

Those people who love humid air, high dew points and high temps I guess will love that part.

LOL. That is why mine does not even have a drop top. It didn't have one in Ohio and it certainly does not have one now that I am in Florida. I would not even own one if it did not have the hard top so I agree with you. The biggest pain is that I cannot take it on a track without installing a Harddog roll bar or a custom one which then takes away from the value of the car.

Well after a lot of searching I have narrowed it down to what else a mitia. Currently eyeing this one. Hope to check it out this weekend. Owner claims 175 HP and around 170 tq which is plenty for a 2200 lbs car
