Great advice, but at the very least I would have stopped him so the thief woulf get busted.

Ultimately though, he might have been armed...

You underestimate how quickly the cops get there if you call 911...

Sounds like the kids are amateurs, and the cops would arrive before they're gone, and catch them red handed.

Now on the other hand, if you had 4 experienced techs, you can have the car up in the air and all 4 wheels off in under 15 seconds...

I'm pretty use there is a large amount of ex-Honda owners that jumped on the whole Tokyo drift scene.

But yeah sucks some dirtbags would try and jack wheels. Also good job on not busting their heads, I know I would have been more physical, and get the cops involved.

although i completely agree in this specific situation that this might've been effective, but the response time of 911 really depends on where the location is and the type of crime being committed. unless im like in irvine or san marino or some other city with generally higher-than-average income, i dont trust local pd's response time. and unfortunately, "wheel theft" is not that high up on most cop's urgency list.

i grew up in glendale and although glendale pd isnt really that slow, they're not the quickest either depending on the case. a long time ago, a bunch of kids were going around vandalizing cars on my parents' street throwing shit and breaking windows for the hell of it. people were calling the cops and guess how long it took for gpd to show up... 30min. kids were obviously long gone by then

Yea i live in a decent neighborhood and still have seen three cars on blocks within 5 blocks of my house over the past couple years.

Luckily i park next to a big bush under a street light and my neighbor across has surveillance cameras. So worst case a thief could jack two wheels only. Unless they towed me. But that would be too risky for them.

Definitely a huge reason i wouldnt buy expensive forged wheels. For street duty even though i like them. Enkei for life lol

^ What he said

and unfortunately many of the new Subaru crowd have come from the civic/rice community, so we are now the new "Honda" crowd

get some locking lugs, to hopefully slow them down even more next time

A beat up truck a few weeks ago had its windows shattered from the street behind me, I live in a place with crime a lot, so it's hella shady with my 2016 HyperBlue BRZ that stands out like crazy lol. I park inside the garage at night and just recently turned on the alarm on the BRZ (I guess the dealership never did.) I have stock wheels but the HyperBlue wheels are different (black & glossy) but I wouldn't be surprised if some thugs would try to steal them or break in the car to see what's inside. It's pretty much the reason why the first thing I bought for the car was a dashcam. I'm going to look into locking lugs right now because of this thread lol. Good thing you caught them though, don't know how I'd react if I saw that. I'd be afraid if they were strapped or not. I'd probably call 911 before confrontation and soon after, take my phone and start recording immediately with the flash on to get their faces and catch them in the act questioning what they are doing. Also my Galaxy s6 can take pictures while recording so I'll do that. I have my Camera linked to dropbox so the pictures are already uploading to dropbox at the same time I'm recording lol. I'd want to document everything.

just an FYI on the dropbox thing, unless you specifically enabled sync over cellular data, dropbox only syncs when you have wifi connected. you might not have wifi outside your house so your stuff won't upload if you don't have wifi unless you use cellular data.

last thing you want is something to happen when you confront someone thinking you have their pictures/videos saved or uploaded on the cloud and it didn't lol.

Yeah, that's true not a lot of people know that, however my wifi range works in my driveway and if I'm not by my house or have wifi on it's on cellular data, I have an unlimited data plan which is pretty rare today, lol.
