Claims adjuster here, your car is not totaled lol. Also I would go through the other carrier for the repairs so you don't have to pay your deductible. Give them receipts of what you paid for the aftermarket parts if they do not include it in the estimate.

Thats the thing, right after the accident I filed a claim under my insurance(allstate) and they got me set up with a rental car and recommended me to a shop. My agent said its still under investigation whose at fault still even though its pretty obvious. He said it could take up to a week maybe more until they process it. So I havent had any contact with the other persons insurance(geico) regarding the accident and no kind of claim number either just my claim number I got from allstate. Do i have to wait til everything is processed? or do I call geico and start bugging them now? Im really not trying to pay the deductible if I dont have to. Will geico contact me? I filed the claim with my insurance on thursday night. Should it really take this long to process everything?

I recommend calling geico or the other person involved to get the info you need. Your insurance should have Todd you to talk to geico. Sounds like they are gonna try to stiff you on the deductible

I'm curious if anyone knows this, if say I got into a similiar accident with a dash cam and sent them the footage via a youtube link and such. Would the time spent proving or disproving whos at fault still be the same? I feel it would

It's up to the cops to determine fault

The investigation would probably take Justas long yes. People think these take a long time but it is just they get done in order of severity and when the info is available. They don't just drop everything and say "Hey got a FRS incident over here let's get on it" like some think they do.
The video would certainly be valuable info but it would not change when the investigation is completed.

what happened man? did you break hard? cuz our car is light and has a rather short stopping distance. imo it is rare for frs/brz to get rear ended cuz it is rather low

No matter what they still have to "look into it". When you file a claim, there's an option to submit information, such as the photos you took of the accident, any video/dash cam footage you have. Don't call theirs, call yours. They're there for YOU. If it's the other person's fault or if they need information on them it's YOUR insurance companies job to call theirs to get information and payment.

I have GEICO and that's what happened with mine. Granted, there was no option to submit the other person's information that I wrote down when the accident occurred, I called them up, spoke with an agent and gave them the information I got. Then the GEICO website (where I opened the claim and uploaded the pictures/dash cam video) got updated with the other party's information that I provided. Their driver's license #, vehicle plate #, insurance policy # etc.

Your insurance company will contact you and say if it's your fault or not, or if it's 50/50 (which is rare for a rear end). Don't talk to the other person, or their insurance company. Theirs tried to call me, I didn't pick up. I only picked up for mine.

So call up yours.

Shouldn't be speaking to the other person or their insurance company. That's part of what you pay YOUR insurance company for, for them to talk to them.

Would be the same. They would have to go by the books to see who did what wrong and agree/disagree.

It is, but the two accidents that I was in (someone hit my car while I was at work and left) (lady clipped my car while I was filling up gas) the cops didn't come out even though I called. They had me file an accident report online, first was because it wasn't an emergency or some BS. Second time they said it was on private property (I was at a gas station... WTF?) so they can't come out and file a report.

I couldn't figure out how to write Yamaha properly... But I must disagree. It's not like their insurance company is your ex and if you talk to them geico will leave you. You have every right to call them. I have geico and my car was rearended in the middle of the night on the street but the driver called the cops. When I called geico, they told me to hash it out with their company, and if I wanted geico to handle it they would but I'd owe my deductible. I decided it wasn't worth 500$ to make a phone call to the drivers insurance

Uh, any vehicle can be rear ended, providing it's hit from the rear.

I would call geico and start bugging them. Ask your claims adjuster for the claim number and the adjuster phone number. Geico should contact you but I would be proactive because this time of year there a lot of claims being filed. It takes some time and depends on how fast your adjuster moves.

I have the totally opposite opinion. From what I see on here these cars get rear-ended pretty often.
