Update:
Got my alignment done and new wheels on. ![]() Passenger Side Clearance: ![]() Driver Side Clearance: ![]() The tube that I have on the photos measures at 9.8mm. As you can see, it clears it without any issues. I did try a paint pen that's at 14.5mm. No dice. So as far as clearance goes with this setting: XXR 527 17x8.25 +35 -2.0 Camber L/R and 0 Toe up front Michelin Pilot Super Sport 225/45/17 Expect clearance between 9.8mm to 14.5mm Unfortunately, I don't have anything else that I'm able to use to check the clearance. Maybe when OCD hits, I'll be able to find something smaller than the paint pen to help narrow what kind of clearance we could be looking at with the settings I have on. --------------------- For Future Reference, with my current set up...look into ADVAN NEOVA AD08 R http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....romSurvey=true Section width is the same as Michelin Pilot Super Sports at 8.9" The Advan AD08 has a Tread Width of 8.5" vs. the MPSS which has a tread width of 8.2" (stock Primacy HP 215/45/17's have 7.5") *Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/40/17 has a tread width of 8.5" Advans are 2lbs heavier than the Michelin's (24 vs. 22) Overall Diameter of the Advan is 24.8". Overall Diameter of the Michelin is 25". (stock Primacy HP has a diameter of 24.7") Michelin has tread depth of 10/32 vs. Advan's 9/32 As far as the contact patch and diameter, the Yokohama Advan R looks to be comparable to the MPSS in 245/40/17...its also 1 lb. heavier. Section with for the AD08 is 8.9" vs. the MPSS' 9.8" When my MPSS 225/45/17's need changing...I'll more than likely switch over to the Yokohama Advan AD08 R's so I get an extra .3" worth of contact patch. I am aware that the tire compound is also a HUGE factor in getting grip but I'm a bit concerned about the increased section width when switching over to the 245/40/17 MPSS with regard to losing clearance. I'm not too worried about the increased weight as I'm scheduled to go FI in a couple of weeks. Last edited by SHWNBRZ; 12-05-2015 at 10:04 PM. |

Glad it all worked out. Last weekend I was under my car and it looked like I had more room than you. I think it is because of the camber you dialed in? |

was your car on its wheels or was it on a lift when you checked for clearance? I also have the 14mm bolt where the 16mm was along with the camber bolt....have the camber dialed in at -2.0. I'm sure all of those affect how much clearance we have vs. stock. If I remember correclty, people normally get about 1.5 negative camber with just the camber bolt at the bottom (16mm bolt stays on top). How much difference, we have...we don't really know unless we measure it. In my case, I'm just able to get ball park numbers from my settings. |

Car was on a ramp. Shouldn't matter because the wheel/strut relationship is fixed regardless of on the ground or on the air. I only mentioned it as an observation. Thanks, though.

Can anyone tell me the most aggressive offset I can run on the following rims size please without any form of rubbing even on track with high load compressions?
I want to run an 245x40x18 MP Super Sport tyre. The car is on HKS coilies, lowered 1" max camber front about -2 and no camber arms rear yet. Camber baby -2 degress. The wheel width I am interesting are: 8.5 9 9.5 |

Hi everyone. I have a set of 17x8 +35 wheels and I am looking to buy some all season tires. I was hoping to get a 235/40 spec but I cannot find any good brand with this size.
Tirerack recommended either 225/45 or 245/40 because they are close to factory rolling diameter. I read somewhere that 225/45 would be a tad bit of a stretch for the tire and 245/40 would be a little wide for a 17x8 as it is mostly used with 17x9. I really don't want to run a stretched tire as much as possible and would like to have a bit more protection for the rims. My car is a DD and lowered by about an inch. With this info, is it perfectly fine to just get 235/45 instead? Thank you in advance |

I would be less worried with tire width than with the type of tire used. But a 245 is a better fit as it is ideal on a 8.5" wheel. Not much of a change going to an 8" wide wheel. Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk |

Read the tire specs for the wheel diameter(compare to stock), thread width, section width(at the rim), what width wheel they used when they measured those specs, and finally recommended wheel width ranges for that specific tire size. Every tire is different, and no one knows what sizes you are willing to accept. I would go 245/40 for the rim protection. Last edited by swarb; 12-16-2015 at 04:11 PM. |

Thank you for your reply. Reason for the A/S is because of how the car is being used right now and where I live. And I certainly enjoy the car. Thanks again for your help.

The closest to the stock diameter would be 225/45, 245/40 and 235/40. I wanted to go for 235s because based on what I have researched, it is the ideal tire width and it might just be enough to give protection to the rim. But considering that I wanted to get A/S tires, I am quite certain I will not be able to find a good 235/40 tire on this category. Considering the 245/40 now. Thanks again for your help. |
