So I put on a MOMO Shadow Carbon (fake look) today, I was debating on wether or not to go taller but I searched and knowing MOMO's quality and simplistic look I went with this one. I got it from Japan which even with shipping was slightly cheaper than in the US. So I start installing and major problem, the bottom collar where the reverse lockout lever goes into on the stock shifter is way too small and the lockout wouldn't go up into the MOMO collar. The white plastic slider inside the lockout I was able to clear but the black collar on the lockout was way too wide. So I ended up, after many hours of modding, removing the black lockout lever and cutting the white plastic slider at the top cutting just enough where the center of the white slider will let the roll pin move in. The reason I cut it is that it shows when the MOMO is installed. So I then reassembled the lockout put the lever in reverse and left a slight gap between the collar and the top of the lockout lever, when in normal driving the white plastic that would be showing is gone and the polished metal just shows with a little bit of the roll pin slide are. I like it too, looks more mechanical or something. So here are the pics...

Just put in a K&N filter I got from on here only a few hundred on it. Had the cleaner kit already and oiled it up! Not bad for $30

Finally I installed my phone mount. I use the same system in my Land Cruiser and it doesn't move when I"m crawling over boulders So I used another mount any wanted a clean look without drilling holes into the face of the plastics. The mount system is called "Quadlock" and is made in Australia. I bought some aluminum angle 1/16th inch thick. I cut the angle and shaped it to the size of the receiver mount. I then mounted it between the silver uprights near the HVAC and the knee pad material Amazingly where I designed where to put the phone there was plastic to mount my bracket to. So i riveted the Quadlock to the aluminum and mounted the other end to the plastic. I ended up removing the rivet mounted to the plastic and put a coarse screw since the plastic is soft. I then filed around the edges of the aluminum to the radius of the mount and put it all back together. I trimmed the rubber edge of the knee pad to allow more space for the bracket so the space between the silver and knee pad is 95%flush. Looks like it's floating in mid air. Turning the phone landscape makes it difficult to adjust the temp control but I like it portrait anyway. Was a nice Sunday project.

Here's the link for Quad Lock http://www.quadlockcase.com/

So i found someone that cuts EL to custom sizes. Since I always wanted the rear red fog to be lit I figured EL would be very different. In the pics you can see how it looks when dark out. I will take another pic in the morning for daylight visibility. The light is 100% even and it looks futuristic in a sense. I'm anxious to get it permanently mounted and have it always on when the car is on.

Pics show;

1. cut and lit piece
2. showing thickness
3. EL tape lit
4. Not lit

I wonder how it compares to a regular bulb. is it bright? and how would you apply it to the rear triangle? I currently have a bulb lighting it up.

It's not very bright, about 1watt. It looks brighter because of the light being so even. Hard to compare to a filament bulb

Been running the FnA Auto rear fog/brake light kit for about a year now. It accomplishes what you're trying to do here for a bit more if you decide to go in the plug and chug (with 1 hole to cut) direction.

So i deleted the Sharkfin antenna and put on a cover over the exposed hole. I just never liked the look of the antenna and I can't afford to put out the $$ to have the hole welded up and the roof repainted. So I used a center console carbon fiber plaque I bought but had a change of design so it left this piece free to do whatever I wanted. It was quite easy and if you just use the DS 3M tape it will take you longer removing the antenna than installing the cover.

So here's the easy way...

Purchase Plaque

Remove antenna

Clean underside with Acetone or rubbing alcohol

Apply tape closest to the edge of the plaque as possible, keep on red release tape

Place plaque over hole centered best you can also looking from the rear that it isn't twisted. Once set gently hold the plaque in place and mark with sharpie (will come off after install) I used silver for dark surfaces.

Make marks at multiple X and Y on the edge of the plaque and paint.

Remove plaque, wipe plaque area with rubbing alcohol and then apply outdoor waterproof silicon (at home Depot made by GE) just outside the perimeter of the hole on the roof.

Remove red tape and while standing on the door sill lightly place plaque against the marks you made.

Once you line up the marks on the plaque to the roof marks press firmly down and hold for 30 seconds. Don't push hard as you could bend the metal of the roof.

Reassemble headliner.

This will come off if you wish to color match later. It will need a base coat and a clear coat.
