Didn't get a single penny off the car but they did a great deal on my old 08 Lancer VRX trade.

Price for Auto, Red, GTS w/ mats was $42220.

Where have I read that floor mats were included, not an option.
Maybe in other countries.

The aust cars prob come with them and if the customer does not want them, then the dealer pulls them out lol

@newft86@ do you know ?

i read on FB that mats is included but i want official confirmation.

with tint, i can get them cheaper but if there is no discount i would try to get the dealer to include it free of charge to save a few bucks.

The options part was all sort of strange when I laid down my deposit. The salesman got me to sign the contract then pushed me off to "the aftermarket guy" who was telling me about the 86 he'd ordered for his wife. He was a nice guy and we just got chatting about them then he started listing extras. Next thing I know he had me down for paint protection at 1K but threw in floor mats without me even mentioning them.

I got home and realised he'd just sold me another 1500 bucks worth of extras without me even noticing LOL. I just called them today and said I wouldnt be taking the paint protection but im happy with the 35% tint and floor mats as they are both necessities IMO.

this is the usual tactics for dealers to recover some of the discount.

these protection packages are marked up massively and in most cases stuff that you don't need or can get them much cheaper aftermarket.

for accessories/options that you want (eg. mats, tints), i always discuss them together with the deal before signing anything. if there are stuff that you have to pay and can fit yourself, you are better off buying from parts department afterwards as anything included on the contract will have stamp duty charged on top of it.

so say if i want mats but they wont throw it in for free, i would order it thru parts and get a seperate tax invoice and ask the sales to put it in the car during delivery.

If I have already paid my deposit and signed a contract (subject to finance and other terms) does that mean the quoted price is final? I was keen to know some more info about options such as the aero kit etc and obviously the dealer has no info on this stuff yet. From what they told me, those options would have to be fitted after market and perhaps after delivery.

We proceeded to fill out forms for the 'non refundable $1000 deposit with a surcharge of $750 if i change my mind' deposit and he quoted me $39,000 drive away for a manual white GTS 86 including mats, tint and all extra charges (stamp duty, delivery, registration, white paint etc). I changed my mind and didn't go through with the deposit for now..

What do people think of this price? Do you think other dealerships can beat that?

Ps. The other salesman across the room whom i spoke with a week back called me shortly after I left and said that the price for the 86 has dropped down to $39,000 And that I should come in and put a deposit down lol
I live down the road from Deer Park Le Mans, let's just say 'no comment' on the salesmen there.
I'm in the exact same boat as you, Dad works at Toyota and was keen on getting the White GTS Manual with the employee discount. We called TMCA and was told the prices for employees are on embargo until at least September 2012. So personally I'm just going to wait until then. (More time to save for parts!)

Sorry but $39k is a bit too steep for my liking, sounds like a nice dealer delivery markup for Le Mans.

Correct me if I am wrong but mats come standard with the 86 anyway?

I got quoted 39400 drive away for white manual gts which would be september delivery if I order now. No tint or mats, but I can get better tint cheaper than from a dealer.

Not fussed on the wait time as I need to try and sell my current car first, happy to even wait till dec/jan

Let me give you the low down guys TMCA has given fairly heavy handed restrictions towards dealers discounting this car. The RRP of a driveaway price is dependant upon the Dealer Delivery charged buy your dealer. I would expect with this much demand for the car there will be no discount by dealers for some time, my Dealer Principal told me there will be no discount even for a car for myself.
