I think that it might have something to do with the type of tips that you have. The original OEM ones weren't as noticeable to me as the tips that I replaced them with. Mine are DC Sports EX-1013's and the flat surface area tends to make it more noticeable. They look great when clean, but, I feel like I need to clean them when I do the rest of the car.

If those pipes are clean then you know for a fact the rest of the car is meticulously maintained. Every other weekend when I wash my car, I wipe them down and obviously the rest of the car is showroom condition. I even pop the hood and wipe under there down once in a while. I have a busy life too but I take the 30 seconds extra worth of time to wipe those pipes to make the car perfect since I only wash the car every other week. |

Just to put it in context, when I say "Opposite Quadrant of the Universe" I mean "I washed a car once, but don't remember when". ![]() If its clean, its because I just finished restoring it from a pile of scrap and its had its first and last bath. Don't ask me how the two extremes co-exist cause I cant explain it either.

Each to their own i guess, But i do enjoy keeping my car in show room condition so cleaning the tips makes it look that much better than having a lot of carbon build up on a perfectly clean car

Well yeah. Salt from child's tears will eat the clear coat! I only use it on the tail pipe inside.

Do you recommend washing the engine with a high pressure nozzle? Has anyone had any problems doing that?

Pretty sure that your standard tips are better than the standard FR-S tips. Standard is on the left for 2013MY. I still clean them regardless, but, that's me and not necessarily the majority.
