look at the top part of the light, in the center of the picture. you will see a jagged triangle shape with red bleeding through. that's the part where it's melting

I have been talking with Albert (he handles all warranties for these taillights) through emails and will be exchanging my clears for the red ones to avoid this problem in the future. it's a shame since I really like the clear look

they are really good about honoring the warranty if you bought it within a year. only problem so far is waiting 1 business day for a response, every time I reply back lol. apparently he only checks his email once every day. it takes a week for an actual conversation through emails. waiting on a call from him to make this faster, but haven't heard back yet.

okay possibly last update. Got sent a full set this time around. Turns out the valenti reverse brake light i purchased at modbargains is wired to my left tailight. Along with that i also prefer the new clear logo because it just blends instead of sticking out. With that being said im not going to hassle of exchanging them out especially because i dont understand the wiring with the valenti bar. Anyways they are currently laying on my patio roof in my backyard once and for all testing the sun's heat. Assuming if they dont melt its actually just the LED's. unfortuanetly california decided to finally cool down so i might be wasting my time. the week i bought them we were in the 100s and they melted in one weekend.

Here's an update on my situation.

First time around, there were paint defects, so exchanged them for new ones. The new ones melted in the same area, and got those replaced with new ones. Now those have melted in the same spots again. I'm now going to get them replaced again, but was warned that since a year had passed since my original purchase, they would not replace them for me anymore.

I asked if I could exchange them for reds, since nobody has reported having problems with the reds. They told me the reds have the same problem, but just can't see it as easily since the red lens covers it up. I think I might just go for the reds anyways.

I've had my driver's side clear USDM Tom's tail light replaced once. The replacement is now burning in the same spot but even worse. I've only had these since around March of this year and I'm about ready to do what I have to do to get both burning tail lights exchanged with the red USDM Tom's. Its a shame they keep melting the way they are, the clears are so good looking.

That's false. I have the reds for almost 3 years now, and they're not melting at all. Any signs of melting would show through when the lamps are lit up... Regardless if the lens are coloured or clear...

That's just a stupid excuse from the seller...

It's all made under the same roof... In Taiwan.

I'm just half joking but Same roof not = same quality. Just from the fact nothing has been done USDM one says it all. It would been changed through out entire product line more then a year ago if these happened on JDM one.

There is a reason how most of thing you can get in Japan is actually different from what you get even if it's same brand & same model.

When I bought my JDM red's here in Aus in September, the vendor told me that the clears weren't even being manufactured any more. Regardless of whether or not this is correct, the couple of places that I talked to weren't selling JDM clears at all any more due to the issues.

Make what you want of that but it definitely sounds like it's not just the US ones.
