Why was this thread made again? How long will my Samsung TV last?
Korean electronics are amazing! I say 5yrs then you'll notice colour changes. I had a laptop by them. Works 5yrs later. Also bought a 40+ inch tv. Still around but colour has grown warm yet lacks brightness.

Crazy talk........turning the pistons 180 degress sounds like a good way to sieze the motor.....If the cylinder bores and pistons are that out of round then just rebuild the whole thing.

I pretty much do a similar amount of abuse compared to BlaineWasHere seeing how I had mine for just a year shy of him with 77k miles for far with 5 total sets of tires already purchased so far being a daily driver with regular autoX events at least twice a month sometimes every week and finally one full track day.
The clutch did give in the day after my first track day but I already knew that was going to happen with the car being launched regularly at above 4k RPM.

Why? I'm surprised it hasn't been done before now. Tires are rotated, why not pistons?

I love driving this car but I am a worry wart about engine failure..speshully since this motor revs so high (my driving habits for this car).

I wonder if I should buy an old man/woman car like a Honda Accord V6 Coupe.

For optimum engine longevity: When cold starting, give it enough throttle to bounce the engine off the rev limiter. Can't go wrong there. Also, swap those pistons side to side like the other poster says.

Mainly because they are not tires, or dragged shoes, or influenced by gravity pulling the oil off the top, or heavy enough to be wearing one side, or many other things I can't think of right now. Rotate them and you are just asking for problems. If you have used your engine to the point that the pistons are worn then that is going to be the least of your problems anyway. Not to mention that if you wear your pistons out then the cylinder wall is going to take the same wear and how ya gonna flip that? If anybody thinks that there is excessive wear from being horizontal then throw some new rings on there and be done with it. Flipping the pistons over is not gonna do squat and is just plain silly.

At the same time you are swapping the pistons, rebuild those carbs.

There goes the macaroni and rice over Cap'n Crunch dinner I was planning. Washed down with a Mountain Dew, of course.

In fact I have an idea for an engine where everything rotates all the time. I bet it would be foolproof, never leak or have oil issues and would last forever. I am going to call Mazda and see if they like the idea for this kind of engine. Thought of it while watching porn so think I will call it a Jerkel, or Fappel or something like that.

Even if what @Tcoat said wasn't true (and I'm definitely not saying it isn't), I wonder if our twins and any other Subaru or Porsche would still have been popular had owners had to flip the pistons every 50k miles. Hell, I wonder if any of them would have existed had people been told to flip pistons on the original VW Bug.
