FWIW: I just re-did my maps the other day. Running the latest D00C Stg1 with LC activated. ( was kinda fun the first time )

I decided to re-do my timing tables and just use the basic stg1 but re-mapped to using a flat 5.98 knock advance table and the car purrs compared to before.

I guess the holes I plotted before along with the crazy stock KC advance wasn't that great..

When i was running stg1 OTS though, it would knock pretty bad. Now it's great, even ragging on it, it's anywhere from 0.89-0.95.

For those having knock issues, I'd try re-mapping your timing tables to use a flat knock advance table as recommended by Wayno in his guide to see if that helps you.

Interesting. I may end up trying this flat knock advance as well. Still been monitoring the IAM on 89 Oct, still doing okay. Good to know there are options.

Its not the flat KCA or Knock Correction that helping you its the smoothing of the overall timing values ie KCA + Base timing that helping :-)

So how are we looking in terms of power output with the new knock tables? Obviously a little less than a knock free tune. But how much?

actually if you smooth the timing and remove the little spikes that cause the knock you actually dont loose any power just the knock. and by adjusting the di\pi you can run more timing even on lower quality fuels

i think the instantaneous mpg is sent to dash from ecu then the dash calculates the average mpg. no it should not stop or stick, try cleareing it with dash buttons, select then hold for a coupke of seconds.

I reckon that would suggest that that is your average then. If it's a long term average it is more likely to settle at a figure and not move very much unless drivig styes change.

That's what I was thinking. Either that, or it doesn't go below 29. Haha

This! After 3-4 tanks the average doesn't move much. I reset mine on long trips or after a few tanks. I reset recently because I used the stg 1 ots. I am not sure if it will affect mpg. Catless exhaust boosted my mpg by at least 5. 35 mpg avg freeway at 70-75. Slower would be even better.

Mine has been getting lower ever since I bought the car nearly 3 years ago.
But lets not get off topic.

I did reset after each tank during first year. Simply to familiarise with average mpg at different weather conditions, with AC on and off, and to compare that calculated number to what real mpg is from how much really fuel used and distance driven. From litres filled up till full (and knowing real capacity of tank), i also checked how much volume left in tank when reserve light lits up, so i can somewhat better guesstimate how long i still can once low fuel indicator warning in on.
I may do real mpg check again, when some performance bolton upgrades will be installed and tune applied for interest/comparison sake.
BTW, it's nice feature to have two odometers, Trip A & Trip B ones. I usually reset A to evaluate mpg between fillups, and reset B one once low fuel warning is on, to not travel too long with limited fuel left.

And yes, sorry for continuing offtopic.
