Header and Front pipe suggestion?

Hi guys, I'm currently looking to get headers (uel) + a front pipe to go along with my 2.5 Perrin (resonated) catback.
I'm currently looking to get a bit of a louder setup and rumble out of these mods as the perrin catback is a little too "boring" for my liking :P
Any suggestions? (I live in Australia)
Thanks in advance!

you might want to have a read the "Basic Bolt On Mods Guide" link below.

Cat less header alone will make your car much louder (and you will trigger CEL code)

Without a tune your header will not generate much power increase just noise.

Cat-less header, high flow cat/cat-less front pipe and perrin exhaust (even resonated) is going to be pretty loud. The stock cat in front pipe cuts down a fair bit of rasp and noise.

Everyone judgement of loud varies though :-)

Maybe just do the header first and see how loud it is then maybe do frontpipe/overpipe in one go later on.

UEL in Australia go the PSR basicly same as Tomei UEL header or Gruppe-s UEL, but the PSR comes with overpipe and gaskets that worth at least $200. aussie seller so no exchange rate issues.

Where are you is australia as your going to need a tune for those headers

The Open flash header/Openflash tablet was good value a couple of years back but bad exchange rate to USA dollar and shipping make it a bit dear now, but still reasnoble value depending on what your local tuner charges.

Tune and header comes in arround $1500, might be an option depending on your tune options in your area.

Do you think the OFT tunes (made for their OFH design) will work just was well for other headers like PSR or Gruppe-S?

I'm trying to decide on a header but I'm in NZ, PSR would probably be the closest one to ship. But not sure how well the OFT tunes will go on that along with our 95RON fuel (equivalent to US 91Octane I think)

The oft uel header tunes work fine with psr uel header

with 95 ron fuel you may need to dial the ignition timing back a bit and adjust the di\pi tables to run full di to 7000 not 5000.

see thread here
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...47#post2216047

see @Wayno,s tune thread links in his signiture, hint wayne has psr uel header :-)

and links below

What sort of fuel do you aussies have? We've got 98Ron at sporadic BP stations. That's about as good as it gets, and it's expensive. E85 is race fuel you have to order in or available at some Gull stations only in the North Island.

I'm in the south island.. and I've got a company fuel card but only for 95RON unfortunately.

Hows the collector look in the PSR header? Is it as nice as the Gruppe-S ?

I have the Tomei UEL catless headers, Tomei overpipe, Invidia catless front pipe, and the same Perrin cat back as you. It sounds great but is very loud... Especially the cold starts. I don't think it's to loud though, and it doesn't drone too bad on the highway. With a tune, it got rid of the torque dip in low RPM's as well

The collector on PSR header is simialr to gruppe-s and tomei. ie pterry good better than a lot of cheaper headers.

We have 98 ron but its appears slightly inferior to european 98 ron and certianly not as good as usa 93 AKI fuel, probably about USA 91.

We also have pump E85 one thats guaranteed E85 and another thats e-flex varies between 60-80% its about $1 a litre the good stuff is about $1.30 AUD

You can get these car to run on 95 ron safely but you do have to back the timing off in some areas and also run more DI fueling percentage than the stock tune runs.

They will run on 95 on the stock tune but not well and have considerable knock constantly.

see below you need to move to Australia mate :-) we can get this at pump

Interesting... I personally like the cold start, but my neighbors, probably not so much. No complaints yet so until then, she's staying loud
