I was going to trade my wifes 2004 forunner for a new one at that place..but they left a sour taste in my mouth after they wouldnt tell me if anything was covered. I asked them first and they said could be but i had to give them permission to drop the tranny. They knew it wasnt covered..hook,line and sinker

Unfortunately there are ALOT of people out there who try and screw people for lots of money regardless of the situations. You have to find the Dealership that makes you feel comfortable. But that'll be hard because of everyone trying to nickle and dime each other. All I can say is I genuinely help all people who walk into the service drive where I am here in FL

How did the bearing destroy all those things? Did it explode or something? Usually flywheels can be resurfaced

Hehe, my mom's TSX was back in the dealership about a dozen times, some stuff is still a problem 8 years later big one is vibration under light braking (3 sets of pads and rotors, no solution, axles have been known to warp but dealership just shrugged it off).

Probably has a good amount of "hard driven" miles on it, yes?

The dealership and toyota's field tech told me I HAD to replace everything as well. Clutch disc, flywheel, pressure plate, throwout bearing and accessories. I saw the assembly after they tore it down for inspection, and aside from some hot spots, the flywheel and clutch were still serviceable. The pressure plate was pretty torn up by the bearing. It's the "policy" they said to replace all of them. Toyota Corp took all the parts back to "HQ" including the melted release bearing. They paid for the parts and I shelled out $1100 for labor. I could have bought 4 clutches for that money.

Nah, he's the second owner. It's a 2005 with like 40K miles. Original owner was some little old white lady from NoCal. Had like 20k miles put on it in like 7 years. Pretty sure these issues are from sitting around and not driven much.

I've noticed many old white ladies have good taste in JDM sports and sport compact cars for some odd reason.

When I just got my FRS I'd get complimented by old white ladies nearly every time I stop for gas or at the store. I remember one of them used to own a FD and a 240sx. Another lady had a '95 supra stashed in her garage. Those are the ones you pick up pristine low mileage JDM cars from. Unless they were just trying to hit on me and made that shit up. hahaha "hey want to come to my house? I haz JDM" lmao

As far as them telling you that you HAD to replace them all, it probably wasn't true. Some dealerships are required to replace as whole units. I know Toyota across the street from me, HAS to do that. They do not rebuild internals, they replace whole units. That goes for Transmissions, Rear Differentials, Engines, etc.
