The BRZ did launch at a higher price tag than the FRS with different creature comfort bits only.

The chassis source might be unknown at the moment, but I'm going to guess that Mazda's skyactiv technology will be in this car.

Oh wow it's actually happening.

I heard rumors that Toyota was making a trio of RWD cars, with a new concept being the cheapest, the GT86 in the middle, and the upcoming FT-1/Supra/Whateverthey'regonnadecidetocallit at the top.

According to this: http://newsroom.toyota.co.jp/en/detail/9737083/, it will fit 4 people. How are they going to manage that in a car the size of a Miata?

Also, on a final note, if the final design looks like that, it's really not for me; it looks ugly in the same way I find the NC Miata to be ugly.

I hated it at first, but after a couple of hours I was thinking "okay this isnt bad" and now Im all in.

Hopefully its just an addition to the family as opposed to a replacement for the 86.

lol
Looks are subjective.

I think the S-FR is funky-looking in a good, "breath of fresh air" kind of way.

I would totally own one of these if they brought it over to the States. The fact that Toyota is dapping the sports car waters again is amazing.

Also who cares if it's slower, does it make you smile when you drive it?

That's what matters in my book.

Also it should be noted, like the Honda S660, A lot of people here trashed it but once the reviews came out positive people started changing their opinions. I predict this will be the same.

When I think of a smaller RWD car from Toyota, I think of an MR2.

That being said.. Why not just take something like the 1.8L out of the current Corolla, throw it in the middle of the chassis, RWD, basic interior, decent styling exterior, small, narrow 16" wheels, make it around Miata size, and call it a day?

Half the parts would come from other cars in the lineup, which would lower production costs. Keep it all basic with the mindset that the people who buy it are just going to modify it anyways. No need for big 18" wheels and crazy nonsense.

There better not be a boost gauge on the S-FR... give me NA 1.5L I4 motor please...don't need no stinkin' boost ruining things.

What I do see is Oil pressure and oil temp being displayed though....
