e85, 8(?) track days, lots of rain; don't have solo data but highest temp i recall seeing was 250+ - i'm sure it was all 265 or under. with the cooler newly installed, which is the oem one from a forester xt, which routes coolant through copper housing.

I used the throthlebody methode, same effect just less hassle.
parts numbers
21317AA070 - longer oilfilterbolt
21311AA170 - Forester oliecooler

Then find (in a autoparts store) some oil line around 1.5m long (diameter tube - 3/8" / 10mm) and some decent clamps.

Does anybody know if the oil cooler part #21311AA180 (off current WRX/FXT) is any different to #21311AA170 used in the 2014 FXT ?

I spent hours pouring over BRZ and FXT diagrams trying to convince myself that CARNZ's routing was correct. I wasn't convinced that the 14mm tap wasn't just another coolant return like the one next to it. I eventually found this pic that shows where the high pressure from the pump is going. You can clearly see the casting routing coolant from the pump's discharge to the engine inlets, the freeze plug and to the 14mm plugged hole.

EDIT: I don't see how you could get better than CARNZ's routing.
EDIT: FINALLY fixed the picture

Just thought I'd share.

Is it just me or your conclusion isn't quite clear? Is CARNZ's routing the best one according to you?

And also, picture not showing.

Odd . . . why wouldn't it be correct if it was engineered so by the factory on similar cars with virtually identical engines ?
