Simple. Staggered = different width tires on front and back (unlike square setup in stock or as advised by most people on this forum to not ruin handling). That uneven wear is not between right and left, but between fronts and rears. If with square setup one can rotate any tire with any, not so with staggered setup.

I still dont understand why Vracer111 said "since the rear tires wear down about twice as quick as the fronts, evening out the tire wear is not possible with a staggered setup." Only the rims are staggered. Am I missing something? |

I will take off the front and rear wheels and get accurate information. But for now, Michelin claims 24lbs. And the claimed weight on the wheels 19.6, 20.0. Honestly, the acceleration doesn't feel different.
I've been getting a few spirited miles in, the tires are amazing. I like the wide front tires. Sure the razor sharpness is dulled, and the steering is heavier, but the grip is very confidence inspiring. To me, the stock car felt delicate on the prius tires. Under the hood.... Subaru.. I know that I have a totally non conventional set up. I could take the tires off to rotate. But, since my camber and alignment are extremely conservative, I'm getting almost perfectly even tire wear. I don't think it's going to be an issue. When I take the rear off, I'll try it on the front. I'll post this stuff soon... Dylan0123: no, i had missed something, fact that tires were same, only wheels differed
. Then indeed, while with remounting, staggered wheels setup in this case does not prevent tire rotating to even out wear. Makes harder though.

Our cars are going to be very similar haha, I have a silver 16, planning on getting pro kits and these very wheels, but ill probably put some small spacers to get the wheels looking more flushed, also probably go 18x9s on both front and rear, trying to decide between 245/35/18 or 245/40/18, thoughts?

Id stay with 35 series. It weighs less, is stock diameter, and IMO looks better. You are going to need at least a 3mm slip spacer. And even then, the gap may be sooo close to not be able to add camber. Coilovers are needed to fully dial in a 9 up front. Again. My opinion. I dont like poke. Good luck! Post some pics when you get get them. |

18x9 +42 is going to be close. A 245 tire will be close too. It depends on the tire and the car. (different brand tires and other frs/brz cars can be mm different from each other) I went with the 18x8, because it is concave not flat, and was guaranteed to fit. I would like coilovers, but they were not in the budget at the time. Though, if I upgrade, two new 18x9 wheels would only cost about $400 installed. (Or if my wife curbs them)
![]() So, the wheel will fit. Possibly better with a 3mm slip spacer, and or narrower tires, and camber bolts. It will poke some. Some call this "flush" Yeah! My 1000 post! |

Ill try it! I like the more concave design on the 9's, is a tire that is less wide like a 235 possible? new to wheels and tires obviously haha.

This guy installed 245's on 9" +42 wheels. 17" 245 Michelin's are narrower than the 18" 245's. Yeah, weird. Anyway, the next guy in the thread needed a 5mm spacer for the same size tire of a different brand. I like tires. I wanted 245/35/18 MPSS. This was the goal. Rims, are very important for look and to hold the tires. I chose Konig because, They come in 5x100, they look great, and are cheap. If I wanted 9's all around on springs, I probably would have gone 225/40/18 all around. This size tire is going to fit in the front for sure. Then a cheap slip spacer would add 3mm if needed to clear the spring perch. I'm happy to share my thoughts... |
